The hybrid shaft bearing comprises a hydrodynamic friction bearing and a rolling bearing. Both the hydrodynamic friction and rolling bearings cooperate with a support structure and rotatably support a shaft. The hydrodynamic friction bearing is a passive hydrodynamic bearing.
