A sharing system generates a user interface mechanism that can be actuated by a user, authoring a document. The user interface mechanism allows the user to set a completeness level corresponding to the document. The completeness level is then associated with the document so that, when the document is shared, the completeness level can be displayed to the recipient of the shared document.

Techniques for visual configuration and activation are described. Techniques discussed herein enable visuals to be presented to a user based on a user-specific visual configuration. The visuals are activated such that the visuals are selectable to access various functionalities. In at least some embodiments, a visualization that represents a user-specific visual configuration is provided to and displayed on a device. The visualization includes inactive visuals that are activated based on various considerations.

Various systems, such as operating systems and application suites, have multiple programs that are installed and settings that are configured in order to put the system in a desired operational state (e.g., a substantially fully functioning state). Different users can have different experiences based on different programs they use, and the set of programs they use can come from network locations. A set of system readiness tasks is created that identifies the various actions to be performed to put the system in the desired operational state. Performance of the set of system readiness tasks is coordinated to display, prior to achieving the desired operational state, a preview of a user interface of the system that is customized to a specific user of the system. Performance of the set of system readiness tasks continues, while displaying the preview of the user interface, until the desired operational state is achieved.

Online meeting experience is integrated with online and/or offline collaborative workspace(s). Documents and other content generated through team collaboration and managed by a content management system are automatically made available during the meeting, updated, and stored in collaborative workspace linked to a particular meeting. Newly generated content during the meeting is also added to the workspace. As a result, online meetings become part of the collaborative workspace rendering reusable and searchable data through meeting content and updates to associated documents.

Embodiments described herein relate to synchronizing configuration information between devices associated with a user. The synchronized configuration information can relate to application installations and uninstallations as well as to user modifications to user interfaces for managing and invoking the applications. For example, layouts of application representations provided by respective application launchers on a user's respective devices are kept automatically synchronized when the user modifies any of the layouts. Installations and uninstallations are similarly synchronized between the user's devices. Installations and uninstallations that might stem from synchronization may be circumscribed in various ways, such as by allowing the user to specify whether specific applications are to be installed/uninstalled only on specific devices or globally, by filtering propagation of synchronization updates according to hardware or software features and incompatibilities, or others.

One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for matching a client device with an appropriate network service provider data package. A device ID for the client device can be decomposed to one or more device ID ranges in a device decomposition set. One or more ranges of client ID can be assigned to a network service provider data package, which can be decomposed into a set of package decomposition ranges in a package decompositions set. The device decomposition set can be compared to the package decomposition set, and if an intersection is identified between the sets, the network service provider data package can be provided to the client device.

Various technologies and techniques are disclosed for searching for and extracting data from databases of content management applications. User input is received to connect to a database or database snapshot of an application, and a connection is established. When the database is not part of a current live instance of the application, an emulation is performed such that the database is treated like it is attached to the current live instance of the application. The user is able to browse and/or search for content, including documents, in the database or database snapshot without having to explore individual site collection structure and user interfaces of individual sites. A site collection user interface (UI), a site selector UI, and/or a list selector UI, for example, provide data entry fields for entering search requirements. Unattached databases can be managed using commands, such as using an object model or command line.

Various technologies and techniques are disclosed for extracting data from databases of content management applications. Input is received from a user to connect to a database of a content management application. A connection is established to the database. When the database is not part of a current live instance of the content management application, an emulation is performed so that the database is treated like it is actually attached to the current live instance of the content management application. The user is able to browse the database. Unattached databases of a content management application can be managed using one or more commands, such as using an object model or command line. Orphaned databases can be detected and deleted from the content management application.

Techniques for extracting data from content databases

Technologies are described herein for managing database snapshots. One user interface is provided for managing the automated creation and deletion of database snapshots. Parameters are received through the user interface that define how the database snapshots should be created and deleted. Once the parameters are defined, a timer job is executed that causes a DBMS to create and delete the database snapshots according to the specified parameters. A user interface is also provided for manually managing the creation, deletion, and restoration of database snapshots. A request may be received through this user interface to recover data from a database snapshot. In response to such a request, another user interface is provided for specifying the data that should be recovered. Once the data to be recovered has been specified, the desired data is recovered from the database snapshot.

Web sites, such as collaborative web sites, support a multi-stage recycling bin scheme in which items erroneously deleted from a web site can be restored to the web site. In a multi-stage recycling bin scheme a user deletes an item from a web site to a user recycle bin. The item is also deleted to a web site first stage recycle bin. On a subsequent delete of the item from the user recycle bin, the item is deleted from the user's recycle bin and the web site first stage recycle bin to a web site second stage recycle bin. Only when the item is deleted for a third time, from the web site second stage recycle bin, is the item permanently deleted from the web site. Prior to a permanent delete from the web site second stage recycle bin, an item can be restored to the web site.
