This disclosure relates to an inorganic-organic metal phosphate ceramic coating from the reaction of an inorganic phosphate of the formulas (i) A(HPO)·nHO or (ii) AH(PO)·nHO; where A is ammonium or an m-valent metal element; m=1, 2, or 3; and n is 0 to 25; and at least one metal oxide or hydroxide represented by the formula BOor B(OH), where B is a 2m-valent metal; and m=1 or 1.5; thereof; and at least one polymer capable of reacting with at least the one metal oxide or hydroxide; or a first organic precursor combined with the inorganic phosphate and a second organic precursor combined with the at least one metal oxide or hydroxide, the second organic precursor configured to chemically react with the one or more first organic precursor.

Inorganic-organic phosphate ceramics and coatings

This disclosure relates to basic inorganic compositions. Methods of providing antifungal/antibacterial resistance and/or hydrophobicity and/or corrosion resistance by coating surfaces with the basic inorganic compositions are provided. In another aspect, a silicate composition comprising at least one alkali earth metal; and a Group IV element of silicon, germanium, tin, or lead having at least one hydrocarbon moiety covalently bonded thereto is provided.

Inorganic coating and composition

This disclosure relates to compositions for protecting a metallic surface susceptible to corrosion, the composition comprising a first component comprising an aqueous mixture of an acid-phosphate of chemical formula A(HPO).nHO, where A is hydrogen ion, ammonium cation, metal cation, or mixtures thereof where m=1-3, and n=0-6; the first component solution adjusted to a pH of about 2 to about 5, the first component having a particle size distribution between 0.04 to 60 micron; and a second component, configured for combination and at least partial reaction with the first component to provide a phosphate ceramic, the second component comprising an aqueous solution or suspension of an alkaline oxide or alkaline hydroxide represented by BO, B(OH), or mixtures thereof, where B is an element of valency 2(m=1, 1.5, or 2) the second component solution adjusted to a pH of between 9-14.

Inorganic phosphate corrosion resistant coatings

This disclosure relates to hydrophobic metal phosphate ceramic comprising a Group IV element of silicon, germanium, tin, or lead having at least one hydrocarbon covalently bonded thereto. Methods of providing water proofing and/or anti-corrosion protection are provided.

Inorganic phosphate ceramics and coatings

This disclosure relates to method phosphating an iron surface susceptible to corrosion, the method comprising contacting an iron surface with an aqueous mixture of an acidic phosphate component, a basic component, and at least one silicate; and forming a passivation zone chemically bound to the iron surface of one or more iron ions corresponding to the iron surface, the acidic phosphate component, the basic component, and at least one corrosion inhibitor precursor.
