A battery energy storage system is disclosed that receives energy from an electrical grid and supplies electrical energy to one or more microgrids. The battery energy storage system comprises a power conversion system arranged to charge a battery with the energy from the electrical grid and discharge the battery to supply electrical energy to the one or more microgrids. An energy control system controller communicatively coupled to the power conversion system manages the energy drawn from the electrical grid to charge the battery and to manage the energy discharged from the battery to supply electrical energy to the one or more microgrids.

System and apparatus for the control of battery energy storage systems

A system and method for optimizing a battery energy storage system (BESS), can involve: inputting data to an echo state network, the data relating to an operation of a battery energy storage system and including one or more of load data, renewable energy data, non-renewable energy data, carbon emissions, carbon credits and a weighted cost of energy; and optimizing the operation of the battery energy storage system based on the data input to and processed by the echo state network and which relates to the operation of the battery energy storage system.

Dynamic non-linear optimization of a battery energy storage system

A system, method, and non-transitory computer readable medium provide for an energy storage controller. The system includes battery, a charging circuit, and an energy storage controller (ESC) coupled to the battery and the charging circuit. The battery stores and expends energy with an electrical grid. The charging circuit regulates a rate of energy stored in the battery. The ESC receives controller inputs; determines a control error of the battery based the controller inputs used in a charging controller echo state network (ESN); determines a model error of the battery based on the controller input used in a battery model ESN; and adjusts the regulated rate of energy that the charging circuit stores in the battery based on the control error and the model error.

Energy storage controller

An apparatus includes a microcontroller () configured to read from a Management Information Base (MIB) register () of an Ethernet switch () to obtain MIB statistic data () regarding a first Ethernet port of the Ethernet switch. The microcontroller is configured to transmit the obtained MIB statistic data to a field programmable gate array (FPGA) (). The FPGA is configured to receive and store the obtained MIB statistic data in a buffer memory (). The FPGA is configured to encapsulate the obtained MIB statistic data in an Ethernet frame (). The FPGA is configured to determine a vacant time slot during which the Ethernet switch is not transmitting data to an external device (). The FPGA is configured to transmit the Ethernet frame to the external device during the vacant time slot.

A method for bus bridging includes providing a bus interface device that is coupled between at least one module bus and at least one advanced extensible interface (AXI) bus for translating bus requests between the module bus and the AXI bus. The bus interface device includes logic. The logic is configured to receive a read/write (R/W) request that is one of a module bus protocol R/W request and an AXI bus protocol R/W request and to buffer the R/W request to provide a buffered R/W request. The logic translates the buffered R/W request to a first AXI protocol conforming request if the buffered R/W request is the module bus protocol R/W request and translates the buffered R/W request to a first module bus protocol conforming request if the buffered R/W request is the AXI bus protocol R/W request. The translated requests are transmitted to their respective bus.
