Disclosed is a heating unit which can comprise a tube, or pipe, having an aperture therein which can be configured to receive a heating element. In various embodiments, the heating element can comprise a resistive element which can be configured to generate heat when a voltage differential is applied thereto. In certain embodiments, the heating unit can further comprise a collar which is threadably engaged with the tube, wherein a flame path, or exhaust path, can be defined between threads on the pipe and threads on the collar, for example. In certain embodiments, the flame path can comprise a passageway defined between the circumference, or perimeter, of the tube and the collar. Such a flame path can be configured to allow pressurized gasses to safely escape from the tube along a predetermined path.

Compact load bank for testing power systems

A cartridge heater and method of manufacturing same. In one embodiment, the cartridge includes a sheath having a first end and a second end. The first end of the sheath forms a seat. An elastomeric bushing is swaged against the seat such that it forms a mechanically bonded seal substantially preventing moisture egress into the cartridge heater. A heating element is also disposed in the sheath and is connected to leads protruding from the bushing. The heater includes crushable insulation material disposed within the sheath.

An integral heating and cooling unit is disclosed. The integral heating and cooling unit controls the temperature of a working fluid by heating or cooling the fluid either independently or in tandem. The integral heating and cooling unit includes a casing or outer housing, which defines a plenum. A heat exchanger pipe is attached to the outer housing and passes through the plenum. A plurality of heating elements connects to the outer housing and extends into the plenum. The heating elements heat the working fluid when they are powered and the working fluid passes through the plenum. The heat exchanger pipe extracts heat from the working fluid when a cooling fluid passes through the pipe and in heat transfer relation with the working fluid.

Integral heating and cooling unit

The present invention relates to an electric immersion heater utilized in heating liquids contained in a cylindrical container, such as a boiler. The immersion heater is affixed to the side of the container with the heater elements extending through the side of the container through an access hole. The heater elements are contoured so as to allow more than one heater to be installed at a given level through the side of the container.

Contoured heating element

A sight glass assembly (1) is provided which is securable to a pressure vessel (V). The sight glass assembly includes a body (3) having top, bottom, front, back, and side walls defining a chamber (25) which is in fluid communication with the interior of the vessel. A glass (7) is secured in the sight glass body by a cover (11) to permit viewing of the vessel contents and sensors in the sight glass chamber. A baffle (29) in the sight glass body divides the chamber into a front chamber (33) and a back chamber (31). The baffle causes steam foam or bubbles from the vessel to condense in the back chamber so that only liquid enters the front chamber. The sensors are placed in the front chamber where they cannot be contacted by the foam or bubbles. By preventing foam or bubbles from entering the front chamber, and thus from contacting the sensing devices and the glass, the possibility of false readings by the devices and etching of the glass during operational use of the assembly is reduced.
