An apparatus may include a power rail, a subassembly, an additional subassembly, and an interface coupling the subassembly to the additional subassembly. The subassembly may include a load, an energy-storing component, a charger having an output coupled to the energy-storing component, and a reverse-current limiter having a first terminal coupled to the energy-storing component. The additional subassembly may include an additional energy-storing component, an additional charger having an output coupled to the additional energy-storing component, and an additional reverse-current limiter having a first terminal coupled to the additional energy-storing component. The power rail may cross the interface and may couple the load, an input of the charger, a second terminal of the reverse-current limiter, an input of the additional charger, and a second terminal of the additional reverse-current limiter. To address privacy issues with 'always on' cameras of an AR headset, the cameras can be muted and content displayed by the headset adjusted to provide a user with a visual indication that the cameras are deactivated. The headset includes a display element configured to display content to a user and an eye tracking system that includes a camera configured to track eye motion of the user. In response to the headset receiving a camera muting event from the user or the external environment, the headset deactivates the camera and adjusts the content displayed on the display element to provide the user with a visual indication that the camera is deactivated. In one embodiment, the visual indication is an adjustment of the display from a default RGB color mode to 'monochrome' or other predefined color map.

The disclosed electronic shutter may include (1) an optical structure including a medium through which light from an environment passes to a lens of a camera for capturing an image of the environment; and (2) a controlling circuit that (a) detects a first condition of a signal, where the first condition indicates an activation of the camera, (b) controls, in response, to the first condition, the optical structure such that the medium attains a transparent optical state, (c) detects a second condition of the signal, where the second condition indicates a deactivation of the camera, and (d) controls, in response to the second condition, the optical structure such that the medium attains a non-transparent optical state in a manner that prevents visual detection of the lens from the environment. Embodiments related to acquiring depth images via a plurality of depth cameras are disclosed. For example, in one disclosed embodiment, a first portion of depth data is received from a first depth camera, and a second portion of depth data is received from a second depth camera. A method for extending the dynamic range of a depth map by deriving depth information from a synthesized image of a plurality of images captured at different light intensity levels and/or captured over different sensor integration times is described. In some embodiments, an initial image of an environment is captured while the environment is illuminated with light of a first light intensity. One or more subsequent images are subsequently captured while the environment is illuminated with light of one or more different light intensities. The one or more different light intensities may be dynamically configured based on a degree of pixel saturation associated with previously captured images.
