A motor vehicle is disclosed having a safety system that includes an electronic controller controlling an electronically controlled mechanism in response to inputs from a number of rear parking sensors to prevent movement of a rear closure of the motor vehicle in a closing direction when more than one object is sensed to be within a rear protection zone and the rear closure member is in a fully open position.

The present disclosure describes an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) apparatus for a turbocharged internal combustion engine, the EGR apparatus comprising: an air intake duct with a throttle valve configured to control an intake air quantity flowing through the air intake duct to a turbocharger compressor; an exhaust gas recirculation inlet connected to the air intake duct downstream of the throttle valve; and an EGR valve configured to control an exhaust gas quantity recirculated to the turbocharger compressor via the exhaust gas recirculation inlet, wherein the throttle valve and the EGR valve are combined in a single valve unit in which the valves are separated by a separating element configured to substantially prevent exhaust gas from entering the air intake duct in a vicinity of the throttle valve.

A turbocharger bearing assembly of a split turbocharger for an engine is disclosed in which key rotational parts are rotatably supported by a pair of spaced apart bearings located in a bore of a tubular bearing housing forming part of a bearing assembly. The rotational parts of the turbocharger bearing assembly are balanced as a unit before the turbocharger bearing assembly is assembled to a cylinder block of the engine by insertion into a bore formed in the cylinder block.
