Systems and methods for performing listen-before-talk (LBT) operations include a first wireless communication device which schedules a data burst comprising a plurality of chirps for transmitting on a channel to a second device. The wireless communication device may perform an LBT operation on the channel between the first device and the second device to determine that the channel is available, prior to transmitting a first chirp of the plurality of chirps. The wireless communication device may transmit the first chirp on the channel responsive to performing the LBT operation.

Systems and methods for performing coexistence operations in wireless spectrums

In one aspect, the systems and methods described herein may include a first device comprising a first ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna. The first device may establish a connection with a second device having a second UWB antenna. The first device may determine an orientation of the first device relative to the second device, according to one or more UWB measurements between the first UWB antenna of the first device and the second UWB antenna of the second device. The first device may receive audio signals corresponding to the second device, and can render the audio signals into audio output to a user of the first device according to the determined orientation.

Systems and methods for ultra-wideband applications

In one aspect, the systems and methods may automatically trigger ranging include a device which may establish a connection between a first device comprising a first ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna and a second device having a second UWB antenna. The device may receive from one or more motion sensors of the first device, motion data of the first device during an inactive ranging phase. The device may determine to switch from the inactive ranging phase to an active ranging phase responsive to the motion data indicating motion of the first device satisfying a threshold criteria. The device may perform a first ranging operation between the first device and the second device using the first UWB antenna of the first device and the second UWB antenna of the second device, responsive to switching from the inactive ranging phase to the active ranging phase.

Systems and methods for automatic triggering of ranging

A device may include a first ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna and one or more processors. The one or more processors may be configured to establish a plurality of respective connections with a plurality of second devices each having a respective UWB antenna. The device may identify an interference condition for at least one of the plurality of connections. The device may update a configuration for traffic sent via the at least one of the plurality of connections according to the identified interference condition, and can transmit a first packet to one of the plurality of second devices according to the updated configuration.

In one approach, a system comprising a first console for executing an application for artificial reality may include a wireless communication interface and a processor. The processor may be configured to send, via the wireless communication interface, a first message comprising a first plurality of parameters and a first schedule for access to a shared wireless channel by the first console, receive, from a second console via the wireless communication interface, a second message comprising a second plurality of parameters and a second schedule for access to the shared wireless channel by the second console, update, responsive to the second message, the first plurality of parameters and the first schedule, and/or send, via the wireless communication interface, a third message comprising the updated first plurality of parameters and the updated first schedule.

Disclosed herein are related to a system and a method of reducing contention in accessing a wireless link. In one aspect, a first device includes a transceiver configured to communicate with a second device via a wireless link. In one aspect, the first device includes a processor configured to determine that a type of content to be transferred between the first device and the second device through the wireless link. In one aspect, the processor is configured to modify one or more parameters for the first device to access the wireless link, from a first set of values to a second set of values, in response to determining that the type of content is artificial reality. In one aspect, the processor is configured to cause the transceiver to access the wireless link using the second set of values.

EDCA optimization for artificial reality links

Disclosed herein are related to a system and a method of enforcing fairness in airtime utilization among devices including artificial reality devices. In one approach, a system as a first device may be configured to monitor, via the wireless communication interface, a wireless channel. The processor may be configured to determine information about other devices using the wireless channel. The processor may be configured to determine a target share of the wireless channel for use by the first device in communicating data for the artificial reality, according to the information about the other devices using the wireless channel. The processor may be configured to access, via the wireless communication interface, the wireless channel according to (1) the target share of the wireless channel and (2) a combined level of usage of the wireless channel by the first device and the other devices.

Enforcing fairness in airtime utilization among devices including artificial reality devices

Disclosed herein are related to a system and a method of time alignment in an AR/VR environment. In one approach, a device including a console or head wearable display (HWD) may determine a wireless transfer window corresponding to a wireless data transmission between the HWD and the console. The device may determine one or more first processes to be performed by the device to enable the wireless data transmission. The device may schedule the one or more first processes according to the wireless transfer window. The device may perform the wireless data transmission within the wireless transfer window responsive to the one or more first processes.

Time alignment for wireless AR/VR

Embodiments of the present disclosure support a head-mounted display (HMD) wirelessly coupled to a console. The HMD includes a positional tracking system, a beam controller and a transceiver. The positional tracking system tracks position of the HMD and generates positional information describing the tracked position of the HMD. The transceiver communicates with a console via a wireless channel, in accordance with communication instructions, the communication instructions causing the transceiver to communicate over one directional beam of a plurality of directional beams. The beam controller determines a change in the positional information. Based on the change to the positional information, the beam controller determines a directional beam of the plurality of directional beams. The beam controller further generates the communication instructions identifying the determined directional beam, and provides the communication instructions to the transceiver.

Positional tracking assisted beam forming in wireless virtual reality systems

A multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna system is implemented for communications in a wireless device. Information regarding the environment surrounding the wireless device may be used to determine which of the MIMO antennas are selected such that communications performance is improved. Metrics related to signal transmission and reception by the wireless device may be monitored and used to determine which MIMO antennas are selected. The metrics may be measured by any of the MIMO antennas at any time, including antennas currently engaged or not engaged in active communications. The metrics may be used in lieu of sensors to supplement or replace wireless device functionality otherwise provided by the sensors.
