The present disclosure outlines mechanisms, systems, methods, techniques and algorithms that gateway devices and powerline communication (PLC) networks can follow to mitigate adverse effects from the aforementioned inter-network interference. Although the present disclosure provides implementation details for G.hn and VDSL2, the mechanisms, systems, methods, techniques and algorithms described herein are equally applicable to other similar technologies. Therefore, when referring to non-implementation specific systems, methods, techniques and algorithms the term PLC is used to refer to a powerline network and the term customer premises equipment (CPE) is used to refer to a home-gateway device.

Powerline interference indication and mitigation for DSL transceivers

Various examples of mechanisms, systems, methods, techniques and devices for dynamic rate adaptation in a vectored G.fast (G.9701) system are described. A first communication device may perform estimation of a residual noise to derive signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) loss for each carrier of one or more carriers with respect to a transmitting port of the first communication device. The residual noise may be an increased noise expected to be experienced by a second communication device when one or more other ports in a vectored group of a plurality of ports of the first communication device are switched off. The first communication device may adapt to the residual noise during time slots of one or more downstream symbol positions where the one or more other ports in the vectored group are switched off by dynamically changing bit-loading.

Dynamic rate adaptation methods in a vectored G.fast system

The present disclosure outlines mechanisms, systems, methods, techniques and devices that reposition a RMC symbol in a TDD frame. In one aspect, a method queues data transmission units (DTUs) for transmission in a TDD OFDM communication system, with each of the DTUs occupying a single symbol partially or fully, or multiple symbols, of a series of symbols in a TDD frame. The method also forms a management symbol for transmission in a ksymbol position of the series of symbol positions, k&#x3e;1. The method further transmits the symbols sequentially in the TDD frame.

Framing mechanism for time-division-duplex OFDM communication systems

Various embodiments of a power saving scheme in data communication are provided. In one aspect, a method transmits a plurality of symbols each of which containing an overhead portion and at least a portion of a respective data transmission unit (DTU). In particular, the method transmits the overhead portion of a first symbol of the plurality of symbols and the at least a portion of a respective DTU of the first symbol when the at least a portion of the respective DTU of the first symbol contains payload data. The method transmits the overhead portion of a second symbol of the plurality of symbols without transmitting the at least a portion of a respective DTU of the second symbol when the at least a portion of the respective DTU of the second symbol contains no payload data.
