A method and apparatus of providing a pharmaceutical consultation prevents a person from receiving a medication prescription if consultation is required, and enables a user to readily view the medication prescription information and convey information to the person. Methods and apparatus of providing a pharmaceutical consultation are provided herein. The methods and apparatus include receiving medication prescription data relating to the medication prescription, and displaying a consultation review screen having a medication prescription view with information relating to the medication prescription and a discussion view with information to be conveyed to the person. The medication prescription data includes a consultation requirement for the medication prescription. A transaction for the medication prescription is prevented if consultation is required, and permitted when data is received indicating the consultation is completed. The methods and apparatus of pharmaceutical consultation also include remote consultation between a user and a person at different geographic locations.

Method and apparatus for medication prescription consultation

The disclosure presents a system and method for efficiently capturing, tracking, analyzing, and providing continuous quality improvement in an integrated manner in relation to errors which occur in the distribution of medication to patients through a multi-store pharmacy operation. The system and method include receiving error event data for a pharmacy error event through a first input device at a pharmacy through an input interface, transmitting the error event data to a pharmacy error event database associated with a pharmacy error event computer and storing the error event data in the pharmacy error event database. The system and method may also determine whether the first error event information requires escalation, and transmit an error event escalation message through a communication device to supervisory personnel, as well as tabulate the error event data with the pharmacy error event computer based on a criteria for communicating insight information to supervisory personnel through a communication device. The system and method provide further structural, functional and operational features for implementing these and other features in a multi-store and multi-district pharmacy operation.

A method and an apparatus for processing a prescription order are described herein. A prescription label for the prescription order may be generated in response to receipt of the prescription order. The prescription label being generated in a priority order based on a plurality of pharmacy factors. The prescription order may be filled according to the priority order based on the plurality of pharmacy factors. Based on the prescription label, a plurality of graphic displays may be generated to verify the prescription order. The patient may be notified of the status of the prescription associated with the prescription order based on the plurality of graphic displays.

Method and apparatus for prescription processing

An automatic manufacturer switchover function to switch a set of future new, transfer, refill, and/or copy prescriptions to a new manufacturer product for a pharmacy. Furthermore, the claimed method and system may allow for a tiered approach to a manufacturer switch by allowing a corporate entity or owner of a pharmacy network to designate a pharmacy wide preferred manufacturer (or generic product) while giving a local pharmacy the power to decide when to implement a switchover at a local level. In one embodiment, the claimed switching system and process may also provide indications to pharmacists and customers to guide a transition from one manufacturer to another, thereby preserving customer perception of quality and pharmacy reputation.
