The present invention relates to a flame retardant polycarbonate thermoplastic resin composition that comprises a polycarbonate resin, a rubber modified vinyl-grafted copolymer, a phosphorous mixture of a cyclic phosphazene oligomer compound and a phosphate ester morpholide compound or a phosphoric acid ester as a flame retardant, and, optionally, a fluorinated polyolefin resin, which has good flame retardancy, heat resistance, mechanical strength, impact strength, heat stability, processability, and appearance.

Flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition

The present invention relates to a flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition that contains a phenol resin derivative having good char formability, regardless of the base resin. A flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition according to the present invention comprises (A) 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin as a base resin, (B) about 0.1&#x2dc;100 parts by weight of a phenol resin derivative, and (C) about 0.1&#x2dc;50 parts by weight of a phosphoric acid ester morpholide compound or a mixture of phosphoric acid ester morpholide compounds. Another flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition according to the present invention comprises (A) 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin as a base resin, (B) about 0.1&#x2dc;100 parts by weight of polyphenylene ether, (C) about 0.1&#x2dc;100 parts by weight of a phenol resin derivative, and (D) about 0.1&#x2dc;50 parts by weight of a phosphoric acid ester morpholide compound or a mixture of phosphoric acid ester morpholide compounds. The thermoplastic resin composition containing polyphenylene ether resin may also contain up to 5.0 parts by weight of an anti-dripping agent based on 100 parts by weight of the base resin.

The present invention relates to polyphosphate ester morpholides, compositions comprising mixtures thereof and thermoplastic resin compositions containing the polyphosphate ester morpholide composition as a flame retardant. The flame retardant compositions comprise mixtures of polyphosphate ester morpholides which are represented by the following general formula I:in which X is 1 or 2; Ris a C-Caryl group, an alkyl substituted C-Caryl group or a derivative thereof; Ris a C-Carylene group, an alkyl substituted C-Carylene group or a derivative thereof; n is the average number of morpholide repeating units, m is the average number of Rrepeating units, and n+m is 1 to 5. In accordance with the present invention, it is possible to provide a flame retardant thermoplastic resin compositions having improved flame retardancy even when small amounts of the flame retardant are used. The thermoplastic compositions according to the present invention also have a desirable balance of properties such as workability, impact strength, heat resistance, appearance and the like.

The present invention relates to a flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition that comprises a polycarbonate resin, a rubber modified styrene-grafted copolymer, a styrene-containing copolymer, a (meth)acrylic acid ester copolymer, a phosphoric acid ester as a flame retardant and a fluorinated polyolefin resin, which does not show coalescence of the domain resin that might be caused by the low viscosity at a high temperature, and poor flame retardancy, weld-line strength and mechanical properties such as impact strength, and which has a good balance of physical properties such as impact strength, heat resistance, heat stability, processability and appearance.

Flame retardant polycarbonate resin composition

The present invention relates to flameproof thermoplastic resin compositions comprising (A) a base resin comprising (1) 75 to 96% by weight of a thermoplastic, halogen-free polycarbonate, (2) 4 to 25% by weight of a styrene-containing graft copolymer, and (3) 0 to 10% by weight of a styrene-containing copolymer, (B) 5 to 20 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the base resin (A), of a phosphate composition, and (C) 0.05 to 10 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the base resin (A), of a zeolite. The addition of the zeolite component provides thermoplastic resin compositions with a good combination of physical properties, including improved long-term heat stability.

Flameproof thermoplastic resin compositions

The present invention relates to flameproof thermoplastic resin compositions comprising (A) a base resin consisting of (1) 80 to 96% by weight of a thermoplastic, halogen-free polycarbonate, and (2) 4 to 20% by weight of a core-shell type ABS resin with a graft index of 40 or above, which is obtained by grafting 25 to 45% by weight of a styrene and 10 to 15% by weight of an acrylonitrile onto 45 to 60% by weight of a butadiene rubber, (B) 5 to 20 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the base resin(A), of a phosphate composition, and (C) 0.1 to 2.0 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the base resin(A), of a perfluoroalkane polymer. The phosphate composition is represented as the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, and R.sub.5 independently of one another are C.sub.6 -C.sub.20 aryl or alkyl-substituted C.sub.6 -C.sub.20 aryl, n is 0 to 5, and the average n of the phosphate composition is, n is 0 to 5, about 0.3 to 0.8.

The flameproof thermoplastic resin compositions of this invention comprise from 2 to 20 parts by weight of aromatic diphosphates, from 2 to 7 parts by weight of phosphorous compounds and from 0.1 to 2.0 parts by weight of polyfluoroalkyl resins per 100 parts by weight of the resin mixture consisting of from 60 to 98% by weight of polycarbonate resins, from 2 to 40% by weight of styrene-containing graft copolymer resins, and from 0 to 20% by weight of styrene-containing copolymer resins. The structural formula of said aromatic diphosphates is as follows (I): ##STR1## in which, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are same or different lower alkyls, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are same or different hydrogen atom or alkyl groups, Y is a single bond or --CH.sub.2 --, --C(CH.sub.3).sub.2 --, --S--, --SO.sub.2 --, --O--, --CO--, or --N.dbd.N--, k is 0 or 1, and m is an integer of 0 to 4.
