A method and system improving vehicle operation is presented. In one example, the vehicle data is transmitted between a vehicle and a cloud computer. The cloud computer adjusts engine control parameters and the vehicle is operated based on the adjusted engine control parameters.

Methods and system for improving vehicle operation

A system and method for improving engine starting and stopping is described. In one example, turbine vanes are adjusted to increase engine exhaust backpressure to reduce engine stopping time and to limit engine speed overshoot during engine starting. The system and method may reduce engine emissions and improve a vehicle driving experience.

Method and system for improving stopping and starting of a turbocharged engine

Methods and systems are provided for accurately determining cylinder fueling errors during an automatic engine restart. Fueling errors may be learned during a preceding engine restart on a cylinder-specific and combustion event-specific basis. The learned fueling errors may then be applied during a subsequent engine restart on the same cylinder-specific and combustion event-specific basis to better anticipate and compensate for engine cranking air-to-fuel ratio deviations.

In one example, a method adjusts an amount of current to an electric device applying torque to an engine to adjust an amount of air that is pumped through the engine to a catalyst. Method for controlling an engine

A system includes a GPS receiver that generates a signal that is representative of a posted speed limit at a location where a vehicle is located and a device that generates a signal that is representative of an actual speed of the vehicle. A controller is responsive to the GPS receiver signal and the actual speed sensor signal for either (1) generating an alarm or (2) limiting or otherwise controlling the speed of the vehicle when the actual speed of the vehicle is greater than the posted speed limit.
