A powered device interface includes a supply sensing circuit, a demand sensing circuit, and a control circuit. The supply sensing circuit is configured to sense an amount of power received by the powered device from at least one power source equipment over an ethernet cable. The demand sensing circuit is configured to sense a power demand requested by the powered device. The control circuit is coupled with the supply sensing circuit and the demand sensing circuit and is configured to cause the power demand requested by the powered device to be reduced when the power demand requested by the powered device exceeds the amount of power allowed by the power source equipment for the powered device.

A voltage regulation system can include a voltage regulator, a voltage regulation controller electrically coupled to the voltage regulator, and a multi-use pin configured to be electrically coupled to external circuits (e.g., an external ground, an external compensation circuit, a programmable resistor, an external reference voltage). The voltage regulation system can also include connection devices (e.g., multiple switches, such as transistor switches) configured to be in different connection device configurations, where each one of the connection device configurations enables an associated one of the external circuits via the multi-use pin. The voltage regulation system can also include a smart pin manager configured to determine when the multi-use pin is electrically coupled to one of the external circuits, and to cause the connection devices to be in one of the connection device configurations to enable the associated external circuit based upon the determination.

A method for controlling a switched tank converter (STC) includes (a) driving a first resonant tank circuit of the STC at a first frequency and with a first fixed on-time, to obtain a first fixed ratio of output voltage of the STC to input voltage of the STC, while the STC is powering a load having a first magnitude and (b) driving the first resonant tank circuit of the STC at a second frequency and with the first fixed on-time, to obtain the first fixed ratio of output voltage of the STC to input voltage of the STC while the STC is powering a load having a second magnitude. The second frequency is smaller than the first frequency, and the second magnitude is smaller than the first magnitude.

A programmable, high efficiency resonant converter includes a resonant cell including a first capacitor and a first inductor, the resonant cell having a voltage output VOUT coupled to the first capacitor with a first switch and a first feedback input coupled to the first inductor; and a hard switching cell including a second capacitor and a second inductor, the hard switching cell having a second feedback input coupled to the second capacitor and a voltage output VX coupled to the second capacitor and to the first feedback input of the resonant cell, whereby a negative current is applied to the resonant cell.

Various embodiments of the invention provide for a double measurement technique to enable auto-calibration of a switching regulator. In certain embodiments, calibration is performed using a digital conversion circuit that adjusts an internal slope of an on-time generator by adjusting the peak value of a ramp to a desired peak voltage value. Auto-calibration allows for an optimal dynamic response across the entire switching frequency range of the switching regulator even in noisy environments.

An integrated circuit arrangement includes a semiconductor body having a substrate and at least one substrate terminal. At least one semiconductor component is integrated in the semiconductor body and is connected between a first supply terminal and a second supply terminal. The first supply potential is higher than the second supply potential during normal operation of the semiconductor component and the first supply potential is lower than the second supply potential during reverse voltage operation of the semiconductor component. A switch is adapted to couple at least one of the substrate terminals to the first supply terminal during reverse voltage operation and to the second supply terminal during normal operation.

Reverse voltage protected integrated circuit arrangement for multiple supply lines

A circuit configured to be programmed using a resistor includes an output terminal, a reference voltage source, a first circuit, and a current mirror arrangement. The output terminal is configured to be connected to a programming resistor. The reference voltage source is configured to generate a reference voltage on the output terminal. The measurement and evaluation circuit is configured to detect an output current on the output terminal, and to generate a control signal which is dependent on the output current. The current mirror arrangement is coupled to an output current path containing the output terminal and provides a reference current which is dependent on the output current and the control signal.

A circuit arrangement includes a first semiconductor switch and at least one second semiconductor switch, each of them having a control terminal and a first and second load terminal, and with an overvoltage protection arrangement for the at least two semiconductor switches. The overvoltage protection arrangement comprises a voltage limiting unit with a first and a second terminal, whose first terminal is connected to a central circuit node, whose second terminal is connected to a terminal for a reference potential, and which is configured so that it conducts current when a threshold voltage is applied between the first and second load terminals. The central circuit node is coupled to the first load terminals of the semiconductor switches. The overvoltage protection arrangement further comprises a first actuating circuit for the first semiconductor switch and a second actuating circuit for the at least one second semiconductor switch.
