Distributed device for the detection of a substance

The invention concerns an organic light-emitting diode comprising a lower electrode () and an upper electrode (), an electroluminescent organic layer (), and at least one doped organic layer () in contact with one of said electrodes. The invention is characterized in that the doping is carried out using an alkaline-earth element or lanthanide, and the diode is heat-treated at temperature preferably not less than 60&#xb0; C. for more than one hour. The invention enables the lighting performance of the diode to be considerably improved.

A method of forming an optical device comprising the steps of: providing a substrate comprising a first electrode capable of injecting or accepting charge carriers of a first type; forming over the first electrode a first layer that is at least partially insoluble in a solvent by depositing a first semiconducting material that is free of cross-linkable vinyl or ethynyl groups and is, at the time of deposition, soluble in the solvent; forming a second layer in contact with the first layer and comprising a second semiconducting material by depositing a second semiconducting material from a solution in the solvent; and forming over the second layer a second electrode capable of injecting or accepting charge carriers of a second type wherein the first layer is rendered at least partially insoluble by one or more of heat, vacuum and ambient drying treatment following deposition of the first semiconducting material.

The invention relates to an organic light-emitting diode comprising on a substrate, from the rear face to the front face, at least one rear electrode of a first type surmounted by an organic light-emitting layer, itself surmounted by at least one front electrode of a second type, the organic light-emitting layer producing light when holes and electrons are injected into it by a current flowing through the electrodes, the types corresponding to an anode and a cathode, at least one of the electrodes being substantially transparent for the produced light in order to allow it to escape through one of the faces of said diode, referred to as the exit face. The invention relates to an organic light-emitting diode comprising, on a substrate, generally one lower electrode followed by a flat conductive organic layer a doped organic layer, upon which an organic light-emitting layer is placed, and an upper electrode, which is placed upon this organic light-emitting layer and which is essentially transparent to the light produced in the light-emitting layer.
