Techniques disclosed herein relate to providing guidance for configuring a medical device to a user in response to detected gestures of the user. In some embodiments, the techniques involve obtaining sensor data indicative of one or more gestures of a user of a medical device, and detecting a configuration procedure being performed on the medical device by the user based on the sensor data, where the configuration procedure includes a sequence of tasks to be performed by the user to configure the medical device. The techniques also involve determining one or more tasks of the configuration procedure that have been performed by the user based on the sensor data, identifying a subsequent task of the configuration procedure to be performed by the user based on the one or more tasks, and generating guidance information for performing the subsequent task of the configuration procedure.

Medical device configuration procedure guidance responsive to detected gestures

Infusion systems, infusion devices, and related operating methods are provided. An exemplary method of operating an infusion device capable of delivering fluid to a user involves determining a current value for a physiological condition of the user influenced by the fluid violates a first threshold value, determining a predicted value for the physiological condition of the user violates a second threshold value, and automatically altering operation of the infusion device to modify delivery of the fluid to the user after determining the predicted value violates the second threshold value when the current value violates the first threshold value.

Predictive infusion device operations and related methods and systems

A method of operating a system having a fluid pump mechanism and a related controller involves: operating the system in a first mode to automatically deliver the medication in accordance with a therapy control algorithm; and receiving stress-identifying data generated at least in part from gesture data for the user. The gesture data is provided by a gesture-based physical behavior detection system. The method determines, from the stress-identifying data, that the user is under stress while the medication delivery system is operating in the first mode. In response to detecting stress, the system is operated in a second mode to automatically deliver the medication to the user in accordance with a stress-correlated therapy control algorithm. The second mode compensates for user stress as determined from the stress-identifying data.

The status information may include at least one of a group comprising recent sensor measurement data, sensor calibration data, blood glucose reference measurement data, fluid delivery data, a current battery level of the fluid delivery device, and a current amount of fluid remaining in the fluid delivery device. The techniques may further involve determining, based on the status information, viability of transitioning to a destination operating mode of the fluid delivery device. Additionally, the techniques may involve causing generation of one or more user notifications of recommended remedial actions to improve the viability of transitioning to the destination operating mode when transitioning into the destination operating mode is determined not to be viable.

Disclosed is a method of controlling operation of a medical device that regulates delivery of a fluid medication to a user. The method receives meter-generated values that are indicative of a physiological characteristic of the user, and are produced in response to operation of an analyte meter device. The method obtains sensor-generated values that are indicative of the physiological characteristic of the user, and are produced in response to operation of a continuous analyte sensor device, different than the analyte meter device. The medical device is operated in different modes when: a valid meter-generated value is available; a valid meter-generated value is unavailable and a current sensor-generated value satisfies first quality criteria; or a valid meter-generated value is unavailable and the current sensor-generated value satisfies second quality criteria but does not satisfy the first quality criteria.

A method of assisting operation of a medical device using a sensing arrangement capable of detecting physical movement by a user involves detecting a configuration procedure performed by the user in response to output of the sensing arrangement indicative of one or more gestures with respect to the medical device by the user, determining a current state of the user within the configuration procedure based at least in part on the one or more gestures with respect to the medical device relative to a sequence of gestures corresponding to a defined sequence of tasks for the configuration procedure, and providing a graphical user interface display on a client device comprising guidance information influenced by the current state within the configuration procedure.

Infusion systems, infusion devices, and related operating methods are provided. An exemplary method of operating an infusion device capable of delivering fluid to a user involves obtaining a sequence of measurements indicative of a condition of the user that is influenced by the fluid and modifying one or more unusable measurements in the sequence using one or more other usable measurements in the sequence to obtain a modified sequence of measurements. The method continues by determining a predicted value for the condition of the user at a time in the future based at least in part on the modified sequence of measurements and operating the infusion device in a manner that is influenced by the predicted value.

Data modification for predictive operations and devices incorporating same

A method of controlling an insulin infusion device is presented here. The method can be implemented in a suitably configured electronic device, on an electronic storage medium, or the like. In accordance with certain embodiments, the method evaluates the operational integrity of a glucose sensor that measures sensor glucose values for a user of the insulin infusion device, and calculates a sensor integrity metric based on the evaluation. The calculated sensor integrity metric is used to adjust the aggressiveness of a closed-loop therapy algorithm that is used to control a closed-loop operating mode of the insulin infusion device. The insulin infusion device is operated in the closed-loop operating mode in accordance with the adjusted therapy setting.

A device for delivering fluid to a user includes a housing, a drive motor assembly in the housing, a force sensor, and an electronics module. The drive motor assembly regulates delivery of fluid by actuating a piston of a fluid reservoir, and the force sensor generates output levels in response to force imparted thereto during, for example, fluid delivery operations. The electronics module processes the output levels of the force sensor to assess the operating health of the force sensor, to check for occlusions in the fluid delivery path, and to monitor the seating status of the fluid reservoir.
