There is described a surface layer or coating of a fluoropolymer. Dispersed in the fluoropolymer is a compound of the formula: wherein R, R, R, and Reach, independently of the others, are &#x2014;H, alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl, or alkylaryl, R is a group of the formula &#x2014;COOH, &#x2014;COOM, &#x2014;R&#x2014;COOH, &#x2014;R&#x2014;COOM, &#x2014;X&#x2014;R&#x2014;COOH, or &#x2014;X&#x2014;R&#x2014;COOM wherein X and Rare as defined herein, M is a cationic metal, A represents a saccharide monomer repeating unit having one or more R groups, B represents a saccharide monomer repeating unit having no R groups, m is an integer representing the number of repeating A units, and n is an integer representing the number of repeating B units.

Disclosed is a phase change ink comprising: (a) an ink carrier comprising a compostable paraffin or polymethylene wax; and (b) a colorant.

Phase change ink composition and process for preparing same

A phase change ink composition comprising an ink vehicle; an optional dispersant; and a modified naturally-derived colorant comprising a naturally-derived colorant that is modified with an aliphatic quaternary ammonium salt, an aromatic quaternary ammonium salt, or a mixture or combination thereof. The modified naturally-derived colorant is compatible with phase change ink vehicles.

A lignosulfonate compound for phase change ink of the formula wherein R is hydrogen or and wherein the cationic counterionis a nitrogen-alkyl cationic counterion, a nitrogen-aryl cationic counterion, a nitrogen-alkylaryl cationic counterion, or a nitrogen arylalkyl cationic counterion; and wherein the cationic counterion contains at least eight carbon atoms.

Lignosulfonate compounds for solid ink applications

A phase change ink composition including a pigment; a carrier; a dispersant; and a synergist, (a) wherein, for a given sample of the synergist, about 80 to about 100 percent of the sample has a volume average particle diameter of about 50 to about 200 nanometers; (b) wherein the synergist has a surface area of about 30 to about 100 m/gram; and (c) wherein the synergist has a density of above about 0.6 to about 2 grams/cm.
