A device for generating an inhalable medium, the device comprising: a container retaining a first volatilizable material; a heater for volatilising the first volatilizable material held in the container; a chamber containing aerosolizable material comprising nicotine; g reservoir containing a basic solution; and an outlet; the arrangement being such that in use, the basic solution is released from the reservoir and enters the chamber containing the aerosolizable material, and the first volatilizable material is volatilized by the heater to form a vapor and/or an aerosol, which passes through the chamber containing aerosolizable material and entrains one or more constituents of the aerosolizable material, thereby forming an inhalable medium which passes through the outlet.

Aerosol generation

An aerosol-generating article comprising an aerosolizable material comprising nicotine; a solid basic material; and a wetting agent; wherein in use, the wetting agent is combined with the solid basic material and the aerosolizable material on actuation of a combining mechanism by a user.

Embodiments provides treated tobacco material having a pH of at least 9 and a moisture content of no more than 20% based on the dry weight of the tobacco. Embodiments also provide a process for treating tobacco material to increase its pH to at least 9, the process comprising applying a basic solution to the tobacco material to be treated, and drying the material to produce a treated tobacco material with a moisture content of no more than 20%. Embodiments also provide devices comprising the treated tobacco material, and uses of the treated tobacco material.

Treated tobacco and processes for preparing the same, devices including the same and uses thereof

A process is provided for the preparation and/or treatment of a tobacco extract. The process comprises the treatment of a tobacco extract by centrifugation and microfiltration so that it is suitable for administration to a human.
