A system and a method for displaying super-resolution images generated from images of lower resolution, includes processor circuitry for a combination multi-core CPU and machine learning engine configured with an input for receiving the low resolution images, a feature extraction section to extract features from the low resolution images, non-linear feature mapping section, connected to the feature extraction section, generating feature maps using a self-calibrated block with pixel attention having a plurality of Depthwise Separable Convolution (DSC) layers, a late upsampling section combines at least one DSC layer and a skip connection that upsamples the feature maps to a predetermined dimension, and a video output for displaying approximate upsampled super-resolution images that corresponds to the low resolution images.

System and method for self-calibrated convolution for real-time image super-resolution

Seismic acquisition having high geophone densities is compressed based on Functional Quantization (FQ) for an infinite dimensional space. Using FQ, the entire sample path of the seismic waveform in a target function space is quantized. An efficient solution for the construction of a functional quantizer is given. It is based on Monte-Carlo simulation to circumvent the limitations of high dimensionality and avoids explicit construction of Voronoi regions to tessellate the function space of interest. The FQ architecture is then augmented with three different Vector Quantization (VQ) techniques which yield hybridized FQ strategies of 1) FQ-Classified VQ, 2) FQ-Residual/Multistage VQ and 3) FQ-Recursive VQ. Joint quantizers are obtained by replacing regular VQ codebooks in these hybrid quantizers by their FQ equivalents. Simulation results show that the FQ combined with any one of the different VQ techniques yields improved rate-distortion compared to either FQ or VQ techniques alone.

Functional quantization based data compression in seismic acquisition

A method of compressing data from seismic waves using Gabor frames utilizes a plurality of geophones positioned within a region of interest. Each of the plurality of geophones is communicably coupled with at least one remote server. Thus, a plurality of reflected-seismic signals received through the plurality of geophones can be transmitted to the at least one remote server for analyzing and calculations. The plurality of reflected-seismic signals is converted into a set of Gabor frames, wherein the Gabor frames is generated via a plurality of prolate spheroidal wave functions (PSWF). A Gabor frame-generating calculation module utilizes the plurality of PSWF to generate the set of Gabor frames. A dual frame for each of the set of Gabor frames is derived and used for quantization purposes. Preferably, a tree structured vector quantization process is followed.

Joint power allocation and cell formation for energy efficient (EE) visible light communication (VLC) networks is described. A set of rules for clustering users and then associating all the access points (APs) to the clustered users based on a proposed metric is developed. The energy efficiency is maximized by allocating power to users based on quality of service (QoS) constraints. The present disclosure jointly allocates the power and decides which APs must participate in communication and which ones must be switched off to minimize inter-cell interference. Numerical results demonstrate a significant improvement in energy efficiency compared to the traditional methods of clustering and AP assignment.

A simultaneous wireless information and power transfer relaying network system includes a source, a relay and a destination node. An overall time slot constituting a relaying protocol of the system includes a first time slot assigned for the source and a second time slot assigned for the relay, where at least a part of the first time slot is assigned for an information transmission from the source to the relay. A time duration of the second time slot is greater than a time duration of the at least part of the first time slot assigned for the information transmission from the source to the relay. A method of communication for the SWIPT relaying network system includes determining a structure of the overall time slot including ratios of time durations of subparts of the overall time slot.

Decode and forward buffer aided relay selection and transmission power allocation systems and method are provided for cognitive radio network that is equipped with multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO). A low complexity MIMO-based relay selection scheme that maximizes the single-hop normalized sum rate of the primary network (PN) and secondary network (SN) is proposed including a sub-optimal antenna transmission power allocation scheme that maximizes the single-hop normalized sum rate of the PN and the SN is proposed. For power optimization, first, optimal expressions for the transmission power per antenna of both the PN and SN nodes are derived separately. The derived expressions are then used in an iterative algorithm to produce a near-optimum solution that maximizes the normalized sum rate per time slot.

Method for relay selection in cognitive radio networks

Low complexity relay selection and power allocation scheme for cognitive MIMO buffer-aided decode-and-forward relay networks

The spectrum-efficient secondary users grouping method for two-tier cognitive radio groups femtocell base stations (FBSs) and macrocell secondary users (MSUs) into non-interfering groups based on their GPS location information, and then serves the FBSs/MSUs within each group using the same channel. A first approach for grouping the secondary users (SUs) is distance-based. A second approach utilizes profit maximization. Both approaches are extended to a co-channel deployment scenario where the FBSs can share part of the channels purchased for the MSUs to further reduce the number of channels to be purchased from the PU networks. The distance-based grouping method finds the minimum number of groups such that the desired quality of service (QoS) determined by an outage probability threshold is maintained. The profit maximization method tries to find the set of SUs that maximizes the expected total profit of the SU network.

Spectrum-efficient secondary users grouping method for two-tier cognitive radio networks

The primary channel selection method for relay networks functions in a relaying cognitive network where a number of relays are used to forward the source message to destination. The primary users utilize orthogonal spectrum bands. One primary user is selected among the available primary users in order to share its spectrum with the secondary users (source and relay). A certain amount of interference is allowed between the primary and secondary users when the primary users' channels are shared by the secondary users.

Primary channel selection method for relay networks

The amplify and forward relay method enhances QOS in wireless networks and is based on the switch-and-examine (SEC) and SEC post-selection (SECps) diversity combining techniques where only a single relay out of multiple relays is used to forward the source signal to the destination. The selection process is performed based on a predetermined switching threshold. Maximal-ratio combining (MRC) is used at the destination to combine the signal on the relay path with that on the direct link.

Amplify and forward relay method

A method of mitigating an interference and reducing costs resulting from a co-existence of a plurality of femtocells and a plurality of macrocells. The method groups the femtocells into groups of non-interferers based on the distances between a plurality of femtocell base stations and a cognitive radio network base station, wherein the distances are calculated based on the locations of a plurality of grouped femtocell base stations. The method accrues a revenue of the profit of the cognitive radio network base station from a plurality of K femto base stations and a plurality of I macro secondary user subscribers while paying only for a plurality of S non-interfering groups of the plurality of femto base stations plus the I macro secondary user subscriber channels.
