An exhaust purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention includes a heated gas generation apparatus configured to generate heated gas utilizing exhaust gas flowing through an exhaust passage. The addition of the reducing agent from the reducing agent addition part is controlled based on the desorption rate of NHin the vicinity site so as to continue to cause the NHadsorbed to the vicinity site to exist.
