Provided is an automatic analysis device capable of obtaining a stable light intensity over a wide wavelength band by multiplexing a plurality of LED lights and adjusting the temperature characteristics of each LED element. The automatic analysis device according to the present disclosure is configured such that light emitted from a second LED is reflected to be multiplexed on the same optical axis as the light emitted from a first LED, and the first LED and the second LED are in contact with the same temperature adjustment member.

Since a few kilovolts of an application voltage is necessary to take in a biological sample, an EWOD electrode, for example, is destroyed, and the electrode becomes non-reusable for moving a droplet. Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a biochemical cartridge usable for multiple times for taking in a biological sample by a capillary array, for example, and a biochemical analysis device using the biochemical cartridge. In order to solve the problem, the biochemical cartridge according to the present invention includes a passage through which a sample is transported, a plurality of electrodes disposed on the passage along a direction in which a sample is transported, the plurality of electrodes being provided to transport a sample, and an opening provided opposite to the plurality of electrodes disposed on a downstream side of the passage.

An automatic analysis device has a plurality of types of photometers having different quantitative ranges, and an analysis control unit for quantifying the desired component in specimens based on measurement values of one or more photometers selected from among the plurality of types of photometers. The analysis control unit: sets a switching region in an overlap region of respective quantitative ranges of the plurality of types of photometers, said switching region having a greater width than does the variation in quantitative values of the desired component based on the measurement values of photometers having the same specimen; compares the quantitative value of a quantitative range portion that corresponds to the switching region and the quantitative values of the desired component based on the measurement values of the photometers; and selects a photometer to be used in quantitative output of the desired component from among the plurality of types of photometers.

To enable taking in a biological sample at a position a predetermined distance away from an EWOD electrode, a biochemical cartridge, including a droplet passage on which a plurality of EWOD electrodes is arranged along a direction in which a sample droplet that is a droplet including a biological sample is transported, the plurality of EWOD electrodes configured to transport the sample droplet, and a sample take-in unit having a predetermined distance from an EWOD electrode at a tail end of the droplet passage, the sample take-in unit being provided at a position at which the biological sample in the sample droplet is taken in. When the biological sample is taken in, the sample take-in unit is located at a position lower than the droplet passage having the EWOD electrode at the tail end, and an area between the droplet passage and the sample take-in unit is smoothly connected.

This invention is capable of improving performance of a biochemical analyzer and facilitating the maintenance. A light source includes: a first LED that emits ultraviolet light and a second LED that has a light emission spectrum different from that of the first LED, the first LED and the second LED being disposed in parallel; a reflection surface that is opposite to the first LED and reflects light of the first LED; and a dichroic surface that is opposite to the second LED, reflects light of the first LED, and allows light of the second LED to penetrate. When an optical member including the dichroic surface is made to be the dichroic prism, the reflection surface reflects light of the first LED to the second LED side, and by using light source of a configuration having a light shielding unit between a light emission surface of the second LED and a dichroic prism, entering of a light emitted from the plural LEDs as a one light beam (beam) to an optical system of latter stage of the biochemical analyzer is enabled.

A sample measurement device includes: a sample container that stores a sample solution; a light source that irradiates the sample container with irradiation light from a first direction; an imaging part that captures an image of the sample solution based on light scattered by the sample solution from a second direction intersecting the first direction; and a calculator that calculates an absorbance or a concentration of the sample solution based on the image. The calculator calculates a degree of attenuation of a light amount of the image at a constant optical path length along the first direction based on the image, and calculates the absorbance or concentration of the sample solution according to the degree of attenuation.

It is necessary to efficiently agitate a small amount of sample (such as blood) and reagent (such as diluted solution) in a short time with a dispensing probe having a constant tube inner diameter. An automatic analysis device, by a dispensing probe, executes an aspiration step of aspirating a reagent from a reagent vessel; a first dispensing and aspiration step of dispensing a first liquid amount of the aspirated reagent to a reaction vessel and aspirating, from the reaction vessel, a second liquid amount of a mixed liquid obtained by mixing the reagent and the sample in the reaction vessel; and a final dispensing step of dispensing the aspirated mixed liquid and the reagent in a predetermined dispensing amount. A first liquid amount Va is less than a predetermined dispensing amount Vdil.

A broadband light source device in a biochemical analyzing device, and facilitates maintenance thereof, including an LED substrate that is provided with an LED chip generating a light beam having a first wavelength band and including a fluorescent substance in the light beam having a first wavelength band and that is provided with an LED chip generating a light beam having a second wavelength band, in which the fluorescent substance includes at least alumina and at least one of Fe, Cr, Bi, Tl, Ce, Tb, Eu, and Mn and is produced by calcining a raw material that contains sodium at 6.1 to 15.9 wt. % in the whole raw material. The broadband light source device further includes an optical system including a light pipe that color-mixes the light beam passing through the fluorescent substance of the LED chip and the light beam emitted from the LED chip, and a flat dichroic prism.

An automatic analysis apparatus comprises: a light source generating light having a center wavelength equal to or shorter than 340 nm; a fluorescent substance excited by the light source light, and generates light together with transmitted light from the light source, having a wavelength of 340 nm to 800 nm; a condenser lens; at least one slit; a reaction cell holding a reaction solution where a specimen and reagent are mixed, and that the light source light and the light from the fluorescent substance enter; and a detector that detects light transmitted through the reaction cell. The light source, fluorescent substance, condenser lens, and slit are provided along a straight light corresponding to the optical axis. The width of the slit's opening is equal to or narrower than the width of a ray forming an image of the light source at the position of the slit.

An automatic analyzer is equipped with a sterilization mechanism removably attached to an opening of a container that holds a reagent and having an ultraviolet light generation section that radiates ultraviolet light; a suction nozzle removably attached, together with the sterilization mechanism, to the opening of the container; an analysis section adding the reagent drawn in by suction from the container via the suction nozzle to the reagent, and executing an analysis operation; and a control section exercising variable control over an irradiation light intensity of the ultraviolet light generated by the ultraviolet light generation section.
