Disclosed is a method of including the steps of preparing a substrate having a flow-path-wall member; bonding the flow-path-wall member to a resin layer that is composed of a photo-curing resin and serves as the ejection port member such that spaces serving as the flow paths are provided between the substrate and the photo-curing resin; providing through-holes in the resin layer such that the spaces communicate with the outside air; exposing part of the resin layer to light to form an exposed portion and an unexposed portion; heating the exposed portion of the resin layer; and removing the unexposed portion from the heated resin layer to form the ejection ports, removing the unexposed portion from the heated resin layer to form the ejection ports, thereby forming the ejection port member.

In an ink jet head using a thermal energy for ejecting ink, this invention aims to reliably and uniformly remove kogations deposited on a heat application portion in contact with the ink. To realize this objective, the upper protective layer is arranged in an area including the heat application portion so that it can be electrically connected to serve as an electrode which causes an electrochemical reaction with the ink. The upper protective layer is formed of a material containing a metal which is dissolved by the electrochemical reaction and which does not form, on heating, an oxide film which hinders the dissolution. With this arrangement, a reliable electrochemical reaction can be produced to dissolve a surface layer of the upper protective layer, thereby removing kogations on the heat application portion reliably and uniformly.

Over the first electrodes the second electrodes made of aluminum are formed. The second electrodes are deposited with a resistor layer. The heater is formed in the gap between the first electrodes. With this construction, the heaters are formed without large dimensional variations among them. Should a defect occur in a protective layer above or near the heaters, a progress of corrosion can effectively be prevented because the material of the resistor layer is more resistant to encroachment than aluminum and the first electrodes are corrosion resistant.

A fuse element can be reliably blown and data that corresponds to whether or not the fuse element has been blown can be stored with high reliability. A resistor element is provided in a circuit through which an electric current flows to blow the fuse element in the ink jet printing head. The resistor element adjusts the electric current so that, in the process of blowing the fuse element, the current continues to flow for a predetermined duration even after a maximum current has passed through the fuse element. The predetermined duration is longer than a period from a time point when the electric current rises to a time point when the electric current reaches the maximum current.

An ink jet head circuit board is provided which has heaters to generate thermal energy for ejecting ink as they are energized. This circuit board is so constructed as to reduce wire resistances for the heaters while at the same time preventing an increase in the size of the board and realizing a high-density integration of the heaters required for high resolution printing. This construction is made possible by forming electrode wires of first and second electrode wire layers to reduce an area that the wire patterns for the heater occupy on the circuit board. In reducing the effective thickness of protective insulation layer formed on the heater to prevent a possible degradation of thermal efficiency, one of the protective insulation layers over the electrode wires is removed from the heater, depending on the thickness of the electrode wires.
