An information handling system includes a fan to cool a component of the information handling system, and a sensor device. The fan includes a first fan inlet, a second fan inlet, and a fan outlet. The fan is configured to draw air into the first and second fan inlets and to blow air out the fan outlet. The sensor device includes a sensor inlet, a sensor outlet, and a cover. The sensor is coupled to the fan with the first fan inlet collocated with the sensor outlet such that air drawn into the first fan inlet is first drawn through the sensor inlet. The cover is configured in a first position to cover the sensor inlet to permit no air flow through the sensor inlet and in a second position to uncover the sensor inlet to permit air to flow through the sensor inlet.

System and method for measuring and controlling dust ingress in a particulate matter sensor in an information handling system

A sensor measures an environmental factor in an ambient environment immediately surrounding an information handling system. A processor determines that the information handling system is in a first location, provides a first sampling frequency of the sensor based upon the first location, determines that the information handling system is in a second location, and provides a second sampling frequency of the sensor based upon the second location. The first sampling frequency is different from the second sampling frequency.

System and method for predictively sensing harmful environmental conditions based on location and historical user data

An information handling system and keyboard automatically coordinate wireless pairing when the keyboard couples to the information handling system to interface contacts exposed at the information handling system housing and the keyboard. The information handling system retrieves an identifier of the keyboard through a contact, determines if the keyboard is already paired, and if not initiates wireless pairing with a command through the contact. A pairing key is provided from the keyboard to the information handling system through the contact and applied by the information handling system to complete pairing. A confirm code is communicated through the contact to the keyboard for communication back to the information handling system by wireless signals. The contacts provide a charging path to charge the keyboard when coupled to the information handling system.

An information handling system includes a battery, a managed device, a host processing complex to instantiate a hosted processing environment, a wireless management module, and a management controller coupled to the wireless management module. The wireless management module includes a wireless transceiver. When the host processing complex is unpowered, the wireless management module receives power from the battery and receives configuration information for the managed device via the wireless transceiver. The management manages the managed device out of band from the hosted processing environment based upon the configuration information.

System and method for provisioning a powered off server in a data center

A system includes a first processing device with a first wireless interface, a second processing device with a second wireless interface, and a third processing device with a third wireless interface. The first processing device establishes a first wireless link between the first and second wireless interfaces, determines a first received signal strength indication for the first wireless link, establishes a second wireless link between the first and third wireless interfaces, determines a second received signal strength indication for the second wireless link, receives a third received signal strength indication for a third wireless link between the second and third processing systems, and determines that the first, second, and third processing systems are in a first server rack based upon the first, second, and third received signal strength indications.

An information handling system, includes a server rack including a first communication device. The server rack has a mounting flange with a plurality of mounting holes. The information handling system also includes a server installed in the server rack and secured to the mounting flange via a first mounting hole of the plurality of mounting holes. The server includes a second communication device, that is coupled to the first communication device via a second mounting hole of the plurality of mounting holes.

System and method for wireless rack management controller communication

An information handling system includes a Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) and a communication interface coupled to the BMC. The BMC includes a security co-processor that stores an access key. The access is associated with a first function of the BMC. The communication interface receives a security key from a device external to the information handling system. The BMC directs the security co-processor to determine if the first security key matches the first access key, and unlocks the first function when the first security key matches the first access key.

System and method for control of baseboard management controller ports

An information handling system includes a management system and first and second first baseboard management controllers (BMCs). The first BMC includes a first wireless interface, and is coupled via a first wired interface to the management system. The second BMC includes a second wireless interface, and is coupled via a second wired interface to the management system. A server rack, includes a first system and a second system. The first system includes a host processing complex and a first wireless management system that manages a managed element of the first system out of band from a hosted processing environment instantiated on the first system and that provides a first wireless connection beacon. The second system includes a second wireless management system that receives the first wireless connection beacon and that provides a first indication to the first wireless management system that the second wireless management system received the first wireless connection beacon. The first wireless management system further determines a first location of the second system based upon the first indication.

System and method for aggregating communication and control of wireless end-points in a data center

A data center includes processing devices and a mobile device. The processing devices are configured to determine a suitability grade, receive another suitability grade from another processing device via a wireless interface connection, determine that the suitability grade is higher than the other suitability grade, and provide an indication to the other processing device that the processing device is a master processing device in response to determining that the suitability grade is higher than the other suitability grade. The mobile device sets up another wireless interface connection with a first one of the processing devices, determines that the first processing device is a master processing device, and provides an update for another one of the processing devices to the first processing device in response to determining that the first processing device is the first master processing device. The processing device is further configured to provide the update to the other processing device.

System and method for propagation of server information in a data center with master system election

An information handling system includes a battery, a host processing complex, and a management system. The battery includes a battery power level gauge that determines a power level of the battery. The management system includes a wireless transceiver. When the host processing complex is unpowered, the management system is coupled to receive power from the battery and provides a first indication of the power level of the battery via the wireless transceiver.

System and method for monitoring a battery status in a server in a data center

A crate for shipping an information handling system includes a first side comprising an electro-magnetic protective material. The electro-magnetic protective material inhibits electro-magnetic intrusions into the information handling. The crate also includes a second side comprising a first portion comprising the electro-magnetic protective material, and a second portion devoid of the electro-magnetic protective material. System and method for providing wireless communications to a boxed server

An information handling system includes a host processing complex and a wireless management system. The host processing complex instantiates a hosted processing environment and includes a first general-purpose processing unit (GPU) and a GPU hot-plug module that enables a hot-plug operation to replace the first GPU with a second GPU while power is provided to the host processing complex. The hosted processing environment instantiates a first workload on the first GPU. A server rack includes a management controller, a power mapping module coupled to the management controller, and a plurality of power receptacles. Each power receptacle is coupled to the power mapping module to provide an indication to the power mapping module of the power consumed by equipment that is plugged in to each power receptacle. The management controller is operable to determine that the power consumed by the equipment installed in the server rack is greater than a high power threshold and throttle a first piece of equipment installed in the rack.

A server rack includes a mapping module having management ports that are each uniquely associated with and collocated with a rack unit of the server rack, a server installed in a rack unit of the server rack having a host port and a management controller coupled to a management port, and a rack switch including a first switch port coupled to the host port. The management module provides an indication to the mapping module that the host port is an active port, and the mapping module directs the rack switch to query the switch port to determine if the switch port is coupled to the active port in response to receiving the indication, receives a second indication that the switch port is coupled to the active port, and provides a network map for the server rack that indicates that the host port is coupled to the switch port.
