Facilitation of hybrid automatic repeat requests (HARQ) can comprise a system that acquires information about the capability of a mobile device. Next, the system can configure the mobile device with multiple physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources and a number of repetitions within a slot for each antenna port of the mobile device. A network node can then transmit a downlink control channel to the mobile device and indicate the PUCCH resources for each antenna port. Consequently, the system can then detect a HARQ acknowledgment (ACK) from the mobile device from all of the PUCCH resources.

Hybrid automatic repeat request reliability for 5G or other next generation network

Facilitating facilitate enablement of a smart HARQ feedback to support outer loop link adaptation in advanced networks (e.g., 4G, 5G, 6G, and beyond) is provided herein. Operations of a method can comprise sending, by a first device comprising a processor, a data packet to a second device. The method also can comprise receiving, by the first device, negative acknowledgement data from the second device. The negative acknowledgement data can indicate that the second device fails to support a modulation and coding protocol of the data packet.

Facilitating outer loop link adaptation in advanced networks

The disclosed subject matter relates to techniques for determining an appropriate aggregation level for a control channel resource set (CORESET). In one embodiment, a method is provided that comprises determining, by a first device operatively coupled to a processor, an aggregation level for application by a second device to decode candidate downlink control channels associated with a CORESET. The method further comprises transmitting, by the first device, aggregation level information to the second device indicating the aggregation level. As a result of the transmitting, the second device becomes configured to apply the aggregation level in association with attempting to decode the candidate control downlink control channels. In various embodiments, the aggregation level is determined based one or more criteria, including an aggregation level capability of the second device, a location of the second device relative to the first device, and a geometry associated with the second device.

Location based coreset configuration for transmitting the physical downlink control channel in 5G wireless communication systems

Facilitating selection of demodulation reference signal port combinations in advanced networks (e.g., 4G, 5G, 6G, and beyond) is provided herein. Operations of a system can comprise evaluating a capability of a mobile device. The operations can also comprise assigning a first group of port combinations for the mobile device based on the capability of the mobile device being a first capability and a second group of port combinations for the mobile device based on the capability of the mobile device being a second capability, resulting in a port combination assignment. The port combination assignment can mitigate a peak-to-average power ratio value.

Facilitating selection of demodulation reference signal ports in advanced networks

Intelligent hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback can better support link adaption. Thus, in addition to the traditional HARQ feedback, which is to relay acknowledgement (ACK) and negative acknowledgement (NAK) data based on a decoding result, a new state for the HARQ feedback can be represented as 'ACK+'. Consequently, ACK+ can be used to indicate to the network that a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) of a current data packet is too conservative, and the user equipment (UE) is capable of supporting a more aggressive MCS.

Hybrid automatic repeat request feedback for outer loop adaptation for 5G or other next generation network

Fast calculation of channel state information using demodulation reference signals (DM-RS) is provided herein. Channel state information is traditionally calculated based on the channel state reference signals (CS-RS). Demodulation reference signals, which are used for channel estimation for a data channel, are transmitted at different times than CS-RS however, and so some portions of the channel state information including layer indicator (LI) and channel quality indicator (CQI) can be calculated based on the demodulation reference signals, allowing a network to adapt more quickly to changing channel conditions, without having to transmit a CS-RS. Generally, precoding matrix indicator and rank indicator, which cannot be determined based on the DM-RS, don't change as often and are more stable over time, thus do not need to be calculated as frequently as the LI and CQI.

Facilitating fast channel state information computation for 5G wireless communication systems

The disclosed subject matter relates to techniques for transmitting reference signals in non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) communication protocols. In one embodiment, a method comprises determining a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) for use by a group of mobile devices in association with uplink data transmissions, wherein respective mobile devices of the group of mobile devices are configured to employ a same time and a same frequency resource of a wireless communication network in association with communicating with network devices of the wireless communication network according to a NOMA communication protocol. The method further comprises determining different configuration parameters for application by the respective mobile devices in association with transmitting the DMRS with the uplink data transmissions, wherein the different configuration parameters facilitate differentiating between the DMRS as transmitted by the respective mobile devices. The method further comprises sending the DMRS and the different configuration parameters to the respective mobile devices.

Reference signal transmission scheme for non-orthogonal multiple access systems

An early termination system for blind decoding is provided to decrease the computational resources utilized when decoding the physical resources, and decrease the time spent decoding. A blind decoding priority list can be used by the mobile device to preferentially decode specific physical resource elements as it specifies the order of all the candidate physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs). When the physical resource elements are decoded, if there is no more downlink control information in that transmission time interval, the downlink control information can include a termination bit, and the mobile device, upon identifying the termination bit can cease blind decoding of the remainder candidates. In this way, the blind decoding process more quickly identifies the downlink control information, and subsequent blind decoding is halted.

Facilitating improved performance in advanced networks (e.g., 4G, 5G, and beyond) with multiple transmission points is provided herein. Operations of a system can comprise determining respective port numbers for respective ranks of a first transmission to a user equipment device. The operations also can comprise receiving an indication, from a second network device, of a first demodulation reference signal associated with a port number for a rank of a second transmission to the user equipment device from the second network device. Further, the operations can comprise facilitating a conveyance of the first transmission to the user equipment device. The first transmission can comprise a second demodulation reference signal on a different port number than the port number associated with the second transmission.

Facilitating improved performance in advanced networks with multiple transmission points

Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for facilitating scheduling of uplink data using demodulation reference signal and scheduled resources. According to an embodiment, a system can comprise configuring a network device with a periodic rate of specified sounding reference signals with a periodicity using radio resource control signaling. The system can further facilitate estimating channel state information associated with a channel via which the network device communicates. The system can further facilitate transmitting an uplink grant with uplink transmission parameters to set up a physical uplink shared channel, wherein the uplink transmission parameters are determined based on the channel state information. The system can further facilitate estimating scheduling parameters based on a first estimation information associated with the physical uplink shared channel.

Scheduling of uplink data using demodulation reference signal and scheduled resources

A method, system and apparatus are disclosed. According to one or more embodiments, a network node is provided. The network node includes processing circuitry configured to receive channel state information, CSI, from each of a plurality of wireless devices and determine at least one null space based on the received CSI from each of the plurality of wireless devices. The processing circuitry is further configured to determine a common precoding matrix index, PMI, where a common beamforming vector is not in the at least one null space and cause a multicast broadcast transmission to the plurality of wireless devices using at least the common PMI.

Method to beamform multicast transmission

The described technology is generally directed towards indicating to a receiver (e.g., a user equipment) which antenna ports are assigned for channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS). The indicator can be sent as radio resource control configuration data and/or by physical layer signaling such as in downlink control information. The receiver computes CSI based on the assigned antenna port or ports, and the reported (e.g., joint) CSI helps avoid mismatched joint CSI used for scheduling when multiple transmit and receive points (TRPs) are communicating with the user equipment.

Determining channel state information in 5G or other next generation wireless communication systems with multiple transmission points

Facilitating management of group common downlink control channels in a wireless communications system is provided herein. A method can comprise allocating, by a network device of a wireless network and comprising a processor, a group identifier to a mobile device based on a determination that the mobile device decodes a group common physical downlink control channel for wireless communications. The method can also comprise facilitating, by the network device, a transmission of data via the group common physical downlink control channel to the mobile device based on the group identifier.

Management of group common downlink control channels in a wireless communications system

Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for switching between non-orthogonal and orthogonal multiple access protocols dynamically. A base station device can determine whether a user equipment device on a communication link should use a non-orthogonal multiple access system or an orthogonal multiple access system based on one or more attributes of the communication link, and send an indication of the selection to the user equipment device. The base station device can indicate the selection using a spreading factor parameter that is either equal to one or greater than one. If the spreading factor parameter is equal to one, that can indicate to the user equipment device to use an orthogonal multiple access system, whereas if the spreading factor parameter is greater than one, that can indicate to the user equipment device to use a non-orthogonal multiple access system.

Switching between non-orthogonal multiple access and orthogonal multiple access systems for uplink data transmission

The disclosed subject matter relates to employing modulation layer mapping to improve the performance of multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems. In one embodiment, a method comprises determining, by a device comprising a processor, codeword information in association with establishment of a wireless communication link with a network device of a wireless communication network, wherein the device and the network device are configured to communicate via the communication link using a MIMO communication scheme. The determining the codeword information comprises determining a code rate and determining a number of modulation indexes for the code rate based on signal-to-noise ratios respectively associated with channel layers included in the MIMO communication scheme. The method further comprises sending, by the device, the codeword information to the network device via a control channel of the wireless communication link.
