Virtual oscillator control systems, devices, and techniques are provided. One example device includes a processor configured to implement a virtual oscillator circuit and output an oscillating waveform based on the virtual oscillator circuit and power electronics operatively coupled to the processor and configured to convert, based on the oscillating waveform, direct current (DC) electricity to alternating current (AC) electricity. The processor may be further configured to extract, from the virtual oscillator circuit, a virtual current based on an output current of the AC electricity, and output the oscillating waveform further based on an input voltage of the DC electricity.

Virtual oscillator control

A device includes a control unit that includes an oscillator circuit. The control unit is configured to generate, based on the oscillator circuit, at least one switching signal. The device also includes a direct current (DC)-to-DC conversion circuit comprising at least one electronic switch that is operatively coupled to the control unit. The DC-to-DC conversion circuit is configured to convert, based on the at least one switching signal, a DC input voltage to a DC output voltage, and the control unit is further configured to input, to the oscillator circuit, a current signal that is generated based on a measured output current of the DC-to-DC conversion circuit.

Decentralized oscillator-based converter control

An example device includes a processor configured to receive a plurality of voltage measurements corresponding to nodes in a distribution network, and determine, for each respective node: a value of a first coefficient, based on a previous value of the first coefficient, a minimum voltage value for the node, and a voltage measurement that corresponds to the node, and a value of a second coefficient based on a previous value of the second coefficient, a maximum voltage value for the node, and the voltage measurement. The processor of the example device is also configured to cause an inverter-interfaced energy resource connected to the distribution network to modify its output power based on the value of the first coefficient for each node and the value of the second coefficient for each node.

Real time voltage regulation through gather and broadcast techniques

Decentralized methods for computing optimal real and reactive power setpoints for residential photovoltaic (PV) inverters are described. Optimal power flow techniques are described that select which inverters will provide ancillary services and compute their optimal real and reactive power setpoints according to specified performance criteria and economic objectives.
