Motor vehicle having at least one headlight with separately actuated light segments

The present disclosure relates to an illumination system for a motor vehicle for illuminating a carriageway section. The aim is to illuminate the carriageway section in such a way that irritations for other road users are avoided as far as possible. The illumination system includes an information system for providing or detecting a stopping point, an illumination device for projecting a calculated light distribution onto the carriageway section, and a control unit for calculating a light distribution, wherein the calculated light distribution is a one-piece area. The one-piece area begins from a predetermined starting section, which constitutes a proximal lighting section relative to the motor vehicle and does not extend beyond the stopping point. This leads to a shortening of a lane light of the motor vehicle, so that said lane light does not illuminate the lane beyond the stopping point. This is advantageous in particular for crossroads.

The present disclosure relates to a method for controlling a headlight of a motor vehicle when a full beam function is activated, in which method an object is sensed by means of an object sensor, an evaluation unit determines whether the object is a road user, a light output in an object region of the object is reduced only if the object is a road user, a width of the object region is determined, two parallel side lines are determined centrally with respect to the width, the sidelines are moved outwards up to a predefinable maximum distance of the sidelines from one another, in opposite directions to one another and transversely with respect to their extent, wherein the maximum spacing is greater than the width of the object region, the sidelines are moved back as far as the transverse extent, and the headlight reduces the light output in a region which is bounded laterally by the sidelines.

Controlling a headlight of a motor vehicle

The disclosure relates to a method for illuminating a road area by a motor vehicle having the following steps: determining a trajectory relating to a future movement of the motor vehicle on a road, calculating a light distribution for a headlamp of the motor vehicle as a function of the determined trajectory in such a manner that a course of the trajectory is projected onto the road as part of the light distribution, and emitting a brightness distribution corresponding to the light distribution by the headlamp onto the road. In order to facilitate an improved overview of the driving of the motor vehicle, the light distribution is additionally calculated as a function of the determined trajectory in such a manner that, based on the light distribution in addition to the trajectory, an acceleration of the motor vehicle parallel to its longitudinal direction is also symbolized.
