This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for using presence detection in order to switch between power modes of a display device. For instance, the display device may operate in a first power mode by deactivating a display. While operating in the first power mode, the display device may use a sensor to detect a presence of a possible object. The display device may then switch to a second power mode in order to verify that the possible object is an actual object. In response, the display device may switch to a third power mode by at least activating the display and presenting a user interface using the display. The display device may then receive an interaction. In response, the display device may switch to a fourth power mode by at least presenting content.

Presence-detection modes for display devices

Technologies directed to using at least three antennas and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) protocols are described. One method includes sending a first signal to a second wireless device with data that cause it to send a second signal at a plurality of times. The method receives copies of the second signal at a first time via a first pair of antennas and copies of the second signal at a second time via a second pair of antennas. The method determines first and second angle-of-arrival (AoA) values from the copies of the second signals at the first and second times, respectively. The method determines location information of the second wireless device, the location information including an identifier corresponding to a first field of view (FOV) corresponding to the first pair or a second FOV corresponding to the second pair and at least one of the first AoA value or the second AoA value.

Expanding angle-of-arrival (AoA) coverage with switching between three or more antennas for ultra-wideband (UWB) devices

The disclosure describes techniques for the isochronous transfer of data between a central device and one or more peripheral devices. For example, the central device may comprise any type of electronic device that is able to distribute data to peripheral devices using a wireless protocol. The isochronous transfer of data from the central device may provide an efficient method for wirelessly delivering data to multiple peripheral devices in an alternating pattern. In some examples, the isochronous transfer of data may help ensure that the peripheral devices receive timely and successful data transfers, improving the overall performance of the network of devices.

Data transfer over isochronous channels

Technologies directed to improving power for wireless transceivers are described. One method determines, in a first mode, a first value associated with a wireless link and a second values associated with the wireless link, the first value being indicative of a first metric and the second value being indicative of a second metric different from the first metric. The first value and the second value collectively indicate a category of channel quality for the wireless link. The method determines that the wireless device can operate in a second mode for subsequent data based on the category of channel quality, wherein in the second mode the wireless device consumes less power than in the first power mode. The method receives, in the second mode, second data over the wireless link.

Dynamic low-power scheme for wireless transceivers

Technologies directed to data transfer protocols for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) are described. One method includes a UWB radio of a first device receiving first data from an application. The first device sends data to second and third devices, the data identifying a number of data rounds, a duration of each round, a duration of a data slot, a duration of a data block, and a first slot index for the second device and a second slot index for the third device. The first device sends, during a first slot associated with the first slot index, the first data to the second device using the UWB radio. The first device sends, during a second slot associated with the second slot index, the first data to the third device using the UWB radio.

Data transfer protocol for ultra-wideband (UWB)

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for dynamic selection of a primary wireless earbud device. In one embodiment, an example system may include a first wireless earbud device having first memory and at least one first processor configured to access the first memory. The at least one first processor may execute computer-executable instructions to determine a first RSSI value for a first connection to a device, determine a first packet error rate value for the first connection, and determine a first link quality score using the first RSSI value and the first packet error rate value. The at least one first processor may execute computer-executable instructions to determine that the first link quality score is less than or equal to a handover threshold, disconnect from the device, and cause a second wireless earbud device to establish a second connection to the device.

Dynamic selection of primary wireless earbud device

An autonomous mobile device (AMD) moves within a physical space. Various wireless devices with transmitters may be present, such as internet of things (IoT) devices, smartphones, tablets, user devices, and so forth. At different physical locations in the physical space a radio receiver of the AMD receives radio signals sent by transmitters sending data. Data is stored that is indicative of the physical location where the data was acquired, an identifier of the transmitter, and a received signal strength indication (RSSI). Estimated distances, each with respect to a different physical location, are determined based on the received signal strength. A plurality of the estimated distances and associated physical locations are used to determine an estimated location of a transmitter. For example, the estimated transmitter location may be determined as a point where the estimated distances coincide.

System for localizing wireless transmitters with an autonomous mobile device

Technologies directed to improving power for wireless transceivers are described. One method processes, in a first power mode, a first portion of a data packet, the first portion being modulated with a FSK modulation. The method determines a first gain value for an amplifier and determines that the first data packet has a second portion that is modulated with a PSK modulation. The method determines a receive signal strength indicator (RSSI) value associated with the first portion and determines that the RSSI does not exceed a threshold value corresponding to a throughput requirement. The method switches to a second power mode, the second power mode being higher in power than the first power mode. The method determines, in the second power mode, a second gain value for the amplifier and process the second portion of the first data packet. The second gain value is determined before the processing the second portion.

Automatic gain control schemes for low-power personal area network enhanced data rate (EDR) transceivers

A wireless headphone that receives a device identifier of an electronic device communicatively coupled to the wireless headphone and determines that the electronic device supports dynamic rate switching between a first data rate and a second data rate. The wireless headphone receives data from the electronic device at the second data rate and determines a packet error rate (PER) value associated with receiving the data. The wireless headphone requests the electronic device to transmit data at the second data rate.

Dynamic switching of data rates

Technologies directed to digital active interference cancellation (d-AIC) for full duplex transmit-receive (TX-RX) concurrency. An integrated circuit can include first and second analog front-ends (AFE) and digital front-end (DFE) circuits and a digital AIC circuit that generates a scaled and delayed replica of a first quadrature (IQ) sample corresponding to first data transmitted by the first AFE circuit which is being coupled into the receiver as aggressor. The digital AIC circuit receives a second IQ sample from the second AFE circuit, the second IQ sample corresponding to second data being received by the second AFE circuit. The digital AIC circuit subtracts the scaled and delayed replica of the first IQ sample from the second IQ sample to obtain a third IQ sample and sends the third IQ sample to the second DFE circuit. Third IQ sample is the desired signal when d-AIC cancels the self-interference.

Digital active interference cancellation for full duplex transmit-receive (TX-RX) concurrency

Technologies directed to a process of establishing a wireless connection between two devices with out-of-band transport assistance are described herein. In one method, a first device scans for a first message via a first radio. The first message includes information that a second device is using either a first or a second set of frequencies of a page hopping sequence. The first device repeatedly sends, via a second radio, a second message according to only the first or second set specified in the first message. The first device receives, via the second radio at a first frequency of the first or second set, a third message from the second device, via the second radio at the first frequency, a third message comprising additional information that establishes the wireless connection between the first device and the second device via the second radio.

Out-of-band transport assisted fast wireless connection

Technologies directed to improving signal quality in received wireless signals in the phase domain of shift keying demodulation are described. One method receives digital data, the digital data including a systematic error as a linear function of residual carrier frequency offset and phase noise (PN). The method extracts first phase data from the digital data, determines, in a phase domain, an estimate of the systematic error using historical phase error data of additional digital data received prior to the digital data, and generate second phase data by subtracting the estimate from the first phase data. The method determines a set of symbols from the second phase data and generates a bit sequence of a data packet from the set of symbols.

Signal quality in received wireless signals in the phase domain of shift keying demodulation

Technologies directed to improving power for wireless transceivers are described. One method receives, in a low power mode, a data packet over a wireless link and determines a RSSI value and a receive signal quality indicator (RSQI) value. The method stores a record with the RSSI and RSQI values in memory. The method determines an average RSSI value and an average RSQI value from historical RSSI and RSQI values, respectively, stored in records. The method categorizes received data in a first channel quality indicator (CQI) category using the average RSSI value and the average RSQI value and configures the wireless device to operate in another power mode, responsive to the data being in the first CQI. The method processes a subsequent data packet while in the other power mode. In some cases, the other power mode is less than a maximum power mode specified by a wireless standard.
