At least one liquid tank has an outlet opening and a drain stub extending therefrom. A circular flange has plural connection openings with connection stubs respectively extending therefrom. A drain line is connected to the circular flange and communicates with all of the connection stubs. The drain stub of each tank is flange-connected to a respective connection stub extending from the circular flange. Unneeded connection stubs can be closed with blind flanges. This provides a modular reconfigurable system allowing a selected plurality of liquid tanks to be connected to a single drain line through the flange arrangement.

Arrangement for storing and conveying liquid especially in an aircraft

A liquid tank has an outlet opening and a drain stub extends therefrom and has a circular-sector-shaped partial flange on its free end. At least one complementary flange adjoins and complements the partial flange to form a complete first circular flange. The complementary flange may be another partial flange with a throughhole connected to another tank, or a solid blind flange. The first circular flange is sealed and secured to a second circular flange connected to a single drain line. The two circular flanges may have the same diameter and the same aligned circle centerpoint. This provides a modular reconfigurable system allowing a selected plurality of liquid tanks to be connected to a single drain line through the flange arrangement.

Connectors for joining protective ducts and/or hoses for the installation of insulated electrical conductors and/or cables in an aircraft are equipped with lids that are easily opened even without a tool. The lids are preferably permanently secured to the connectors. The lids are constructed as roll-up tapes or as flat or curved plates. The curved plates are held in place in the closed condition by springs. A flat plate lid is held in place, for example by a circlip, or by a leg spring or by a hinge.

A connector element is provided for variably laying and protecting insulated electrical conductors or cables for interconnecting the electrotechnical devices and lightning protective systems in aircraft and spacecraft. The connector element (29) includes a protective corrugated hose (25) connected to a screw-on component (1) by a collar nut (3) screwed onto the screw-on component (1). The collar nut (3) engages a flange (26A) on an end of the hose (25) and clamps it against the screw-on component (1). Insulated electrical conductors or cables (8) are guided through the hose (25), which is conductively connected to the aircraft structure. The hose (25) serves to protect, hold, and guide the electrical cables (8) in a desired configuration. The corrugated hose (25) includes a compressed portion (25A) with a small corrugation spacing, whereby the hose (25) is bendable into a desired configuration, yet is form-retaining and flexurally stiff to maintain the bent configuration.

A clamp for securing a protection hose to an electrical connector is formed as a cuff with a longitudinal gap. The cuff has an inherent bias which normally tends to close the gap. The cuff is provided with tool insertion elements for widening the gap to insert the protection hose into the cuff. When a tool is released the inherent bias generates force components so directed that the cuff will clamp the hose between the connector and the cuff. The tool insertion elements may also be used for electrically grounding the cuff made of electrically conducting material.

A two-part screw-type coupling suitable for coupling together electrical and/or mechanical components in an aircraft, for example, has a rotation lock feature that prevents the unintentional spontaneous loosening of the screwed connection as a result of vibration and shock. The coupling includes a generally cylindrical support body and a collar nut rotatably mounted thereon and retained by a retaining element. A rotation lock element locks the collar nut and the support body together against relative rotation. The lock element includes a spring or a spring-loaded ring, which is rigidly connected to the collar nut or the support body and which applies a sufficient clamping tension against the other part of the coupling to achieve the desired locking function. The rotation lock can provide a finely stepped static adjustment and locking, or a fine step-less dynamic adjustment and locking of the tightening torque of the collar nut on a component to which the coupling is screw-connected. For the stepped adjustment, a spring or a knurled ring engages a knurled surface having radial or axial knurled ridges on at least one of the two parts of the coupling. For the step-less adjustment, a spring applies a biasing torque between the two parts of the coupling.

Elongated components such as electrical wiring, electrical cables, piping, rods, ropes, and steel cables are mounted in place, for example, in an aircraft body, by a mounting device that has at least two mounting sections. At least one, preferably both mounting sections are provided with component holding channels. When the two mounting sections are held together they form a block in which the components are held in the respective through-going channels. The mounting block is locked to a support, such as a wall member. The closing and thus the connection of the two mounting sections to each other and the clamping of the elongated components in the channels as well as the locking of the device to the support is accomplished by a mechanism that performs all three functions. In one embodiment the mechanism includes a connecting bolt holding at one end an expander dowel and on its threaded other end a clamping nut, whereby the expander dowel is expanded by a pulling action. In another embodiment the expander dowel is expanded by a pushing action resulting from the connecting and clamping of the two mounting sections to each other by one or two spring bails.

Electrical and optical couplings are provided in a common housing for electrically and optically interconnecting respective cable ends. Such cables have a central optical conductor surrounded by an electrical conductor, preferably a wire mesh conductor. The coupling components cooperate with each other for providing a secure electrical connection and a precise optical coupling, while simultaneously protecting the optical conductor against damage and against excessive bending. The electrical connection and the optical coupling are separate and do not interfere with each other.

A nut and a screw bolt form a screw connector, wherein the nut is secured to the bolt by a configured spring locking member. The locking member engages with one end the screw bolt and with the other end the nut, whereby the locking member has such a configuration that one end has a projection to engage a cotter pin hole in the bolt, while the other end engages directly or indirectly the nut. The two locking member ends are interconnected by a spring section which has such a configuration that a nut tightening torque moment is exerted on the nut when the locking member is in place. Further, the locking member is so configured that it exerts an axial compression force when its ends engage the bolt and the nut. This construction minimizes any reduction in the force exerted by the screw connector on the interconnected structural components. Additionally, any torque moment tending to loosen the nut is counteracted or prevented so that the screw connector is secured against loosening, against turning the nut in a loosening direction and losing the nut is also prevented.

An electrical structural component including a relay and connection contacts for connecting electrical components of the relay with respective electrical conductors of a switching or energizing circuit and at least one operating circuit, is equipped with a connector mounting plate that can be inserted into a relay housing. Connector bushings and securing or locking elements which may be part of the bushings, for the mounting and fixation of contact pins are arranged in the connector mounting plate. The connector bushings are constructed as carriers for the spring contacts operated in the relay and simultaneously as connector arms for the fixed contacts. The contact pins are connected to respective conductors.

An electromechanical relay for the activation of at least one operating circuit, has an activator (10, 110) for example in the form of a helix made of a material having form-restoring or shape memory properties. A reset element (17, 117) holds the actuator in a distorted position opposite to that of its original position as long as an electrical heating current does not flow through the actuator. When the heating current, also referred to as switching current, is passing through the actuator, the latter returns to its original position or shape against the force of the reset spring thereby activating, through an operating member, a number of contact pairs of an operating circuit.

A food supply system is adapted for installation in an aircraft having an upper and a lower deck. A pantry is located on the upper deck. A food supply carts carrying platform is arranged on the lower deck for cooperation with the pantry on the upper deck. A lifting mechanism is arranged for cooperation with the platform for lifting or lowering selectively any one of a plurality of food supply carts whereby the space requirements on each deck are optimally reduced.

A block type electrical terminal connector, especially for use in aircraft nd spacecraft, has a pot-shaped housing of electrically insulating material permanently closed at its bottom and closable at its open top by a cover. A single piece contact bank for connecting groups of contact pins together, that is to the same potential, is made of a band of sheet metal, so that contact elements, contact pin retainers and arresting members form integral components of the single piece contact bank which is inserted into the open top of the housing and held in the housing by the cooperation of locking shoulders in the housing with the arresting members of the single piece contact bank, whereby the contact bank is retained in the housing even without the cover closing the housing. This construction substantially reduces the number of connector parts and simplifies the structure and assembly of the connector.
