A transducer baseplate includes a base, a protrusion extending from the base along a longitudinal axis, a pair of opposed transducer receptacles defined within the protrusion, and respective pressure plena. The pressure plena are separated by a plenum wall, each plenum being in fluid connection with an area external to the protrusion through a respective pressure line. The pressure lines provide a direct fluid path to their respective receptacles.

Duplex pressure transducers

A sensor system includes a plurality of strain gauges and a passive compensation circuit. The plurality of strain gauges are configured to provide an output voltage indicative of a sensed pressure using an input voltage. The passive compensation circuit that includes a span resistor, first and second compensation resistors, and a zero offset resistor. The span resistor is connected between an input voltage and the pressure sensor and is configured to control a range of an output voltage for a pressure range of the pressure sensor. The first and second compensation resistors are operatively connected in parallel with the pressure sensor and are configured to control current provided to the pressure sensor. The zero offset resistor is operatively connected between the first and second compensation resistors and the pressure sensor and is configured to control a base value of the output voltage for zero pressure.

Passive temperature error compensation for strain gauge pressure sensors

A dielectric header sub-assembly includes a header body with opposed first and second surfaces and a side wall. The first and second surfaces define a header axis extending therebetween. The side wall extends from the first surface to the second surface. The second surface includes a tapered portion. A dielectric header sub-assembly includes a bore. The bore extends from the first surface to the second surface. A first bore opening of the bore proximate to the first surface is greater in area than a second bore opening of the bore proximate the second surface. A method of assembling a header sub-assembly includes inserting an electrical connector into a bore of a header body, applying an active braze filler material into the bore and applying heat to braze the active braze filler material to the header body and the electrical connector.

Header sub-assemblies

A capacitive pressure sensor includes a substrate wafer and a diaphragm wafer. The substrate wafer defines a substrate recess with a first recess. The diaphragm wafer defines a diaphragm recess with a second recess. The diaphragm wafer is bonded to the substrate wafer such that the substrate and diaphragm recesses form a height differentiated pressure chamber.

Capacitive pressure sensors for high temperature applications

A pressure sensor assembly includes a pressure sensor having a pressure sensing transducer connected to a plurality of electrode pins via a plurality of electrode pads disposed on the transducer, an inner casing configured to hold the pressure sensing transducer including a plurality of inner casing electrode pin channels having the electrode pins disposed therein. The pressure sensor further includes an outer casing holding the inner casing therein having a capsule header with a plurality of capsule header electrode pin channels defined therein which can include a ceramic seal disposed therein such that the capsule header electrode pin channels engage the electrode pins in an insulating sealed relationship. The outer casing further includes an isolator plate including an isolator plate fluid port defined therein and a pressure isolator disposed on the isolator plate and configured to deflect in response to a change in ambient pressure. The pressure sensor includes a pressure transmitting fluid disposed in the fluid volume.

High temperature pressure sensor

A data storage tape cartridge is disclosed. The data storage tape cartridge includes a housing, a reel assembly including a hub rotatably disposed within the housing, a storage tape wound onto the tape reel assembly, and a leader attached to a leading end of the storage tape. In this regard, the storage tape includes a primary tape portion extending from the hub to a first end and a transition tape coupled to the first end of the primary tape portion and extending to a leading end, wherein the transition tape is thicker than the primary tape portion.

The Invention Provides a Positioning System for a Linear Data Storage Medium, Such as magnetic tape or other data storage medium in which data is stored on parallel data tracks that extend along a length of the medium. The invention makes use of multiple actuators to control the positioning of sliders carrying read and write elements, e.g., separate sliders carrying the read and write elements, relative to the data storage medium with multiple degrees of freedom. The multiple degrees of freedom may include two or more of a vertical position, a horizontal position, a transverse position, an azimuth position, a zenith position, and a yaw position. In this manner, the invention can improve head-to-track alignment of read heads and write heads with linear data storage systems having very small track pitches, such as track pitches approximately 1 micron and especially less than 1 micron.

Positioning head assembly for data storage system with multiple degrees of freedom

The invention is directed to a non-rotating head used in linear scanning of linear magnetic tape. For example, the head may include a non-rotating contoured surface shaped to facilitate flyability of linear magnetic tape passing over the non-rotating contoured surface. A contact area defining a magnetic gap may protrude from the surface. The contact area that projects from the surface can contact the magnetic tape to read data from the tape and/or write data to the tape as the tape flies over the surface.

A magnetic head assembly in a linear tape system. The magnetic head assembly includes a magnetic head having a central section, a first outrigger, and a second outrigger. The central section maintains at least one read/write element. The first outrigger is positioned adjacent the central section and forms at least one air bleed slot. The second outrigger is positioned adjacent the central section opposite the first outrigger and also forms at least one air bleed slot. Finally, the central section is laterally moveable relative to the outriggers. With this configuration, the moveable, central section, otherwise used for lateral positioning of the read/write element relative to a magnetic tape, is separated from the outriggers that otherwise minimize a fly height between the magnetic tape and the outriggers.

A subambient pressure feature for assisting in guidance of storage tape within a tape transport system such as a data storage tape cartridge and/or a tape drive. The storage tape is extended between two tape reels along a tape path defined, in part, by a tape guide. The tape guide includes a curved tape-receiving surface defined by an entrance side and an exit side. The subambient pressure feature is located along the tape path and is adapted to induce frictional engagement between the tape and at least a portion of the tape-receiving surface at speeds of not less than 1 meter/second to suppress lateral tape motion.

A system and method for cleaning a tape media, such as a magnetic tape. The system preferably includes first and second cleaning heads. The first cleaning head has a plurality of spaced ridges defining a curved, tape-receiving face. The second cleaning head has including a plurality of lands spaced by shallow cavities configured to establish a sub-ambient condition. During use, a tape is transversed over the first cleaning head, with contact at leading edges formed by the ridges removing relatively large and loose particles. Relative to the second cleaning head, the tape partially wraps about a leading corner of the lands, due to the sub-ambient condition within the shallow cavities, facilitating removal of small, tacky debris. Processing by the cleaning heads simulates multiple passes over a magnetic head, thereby stabilizing magnetic tape. In alternative embodiments, the system includes only one of the first or second cleaning heads.
