Error that occurs when an absolute velocity of a target object is measured by using an antenna installed on a ship body that rocks and drifts in a complex manner since it floats on the sea is reduced. An antenna is installed on a ship body and transceives electromagnetic waves. A roll angle and a pitch angle of the ship body are detected by using an inclination sensor. An antenna velocity calculator calculates an antenna velocity of the antenna by using the detected roll and pitch angles of the ship body. An antenna velocity compensator compensates the antenna velocity of the antenna for a relative velocity between the ship body and a target object, the antenna velocity calculated by the antenna velocity calculator, the relative velocity obtained based on reflection waves received by the antenna.

A signal selecting device is provided. The signal selecting device includes a transceiver for repeatedly transceiving electromagnetic waves, a target candidate detecting module for detecting a plurality of objects based on echo signals received by the transceiver, a phase change amount calculating module for calculating a phase change amount between two echo signals from two positions of which distances from the transceiver are substantially the same but azimuths from the transceiver are different, and an object selecting module for selecting a predetermined object among the plurality of objects detected by the target candidate detecting module in a first scan based on a phase change amount of the object, the predetermined object being the same object as an object selected by the object selecting module in a second scan that is performed before the first scan.

A radar apparatus having an integral ARPA function transmits at least two kinds of pulse signals, each of which has different pulselength, according to a specific transmission pattern and receives echoes of the transmitted pulse signal. The radar apparatus includes an echo data generator for generating display echo data for each range scale selected for on-screen presentation by using an echo signal obtained with each transmission pulselength, an ARPA processor for generating a single set of motion-related information on each tracked target to be superimposed on the display echo data by using echo signals obtained with the different pulselengths, a display output synthesizer for superimposing the motion-related information on each tracked target generated by the ARPA processor on the display echo data, and a display unit for displaying a superimposed picture produced by the display output synthesizer.

A radar apparatus transmits a pulse signal including pulses having at least two different pulselengths in a specific transmit pulse pattern and receives a returning echo signal through a single antenna. A tuning voltage setting timing generator generates a timing of setting a tuning voltage according to a combination of transmission pulselengths and a tuning processor performs tuning operation in a manner suited to a current transmission pulselength based on the tuning voltage setting timing. The radar apparatus may include a tuning voltage alteration decider for deciding whether or not to alter the tuning voltage based on a combination of alternate pulselengths before altering the pulselength of the pulse signal generated by a transmitter and the tuning processor alters the tuning voltage based on the result of decision made by the tuning voltage alteration decider.

A radar apparatus where the rate of writing detected image data into an image memory does not decrease, irrespective of an enlarged amount of the detected image data. When an azimuth direction enlargement section of a W data generator receives detected image data of a sweep, it outputs the data to an image memory, and delays the data, depending on a cycle of an azimuth direction shift timing signal. When detected image data of a next sweep is drawn into a pixel adjacent in a sweep moving direction to a pixel into which previous detected image data has been drawn and is located at the same distance in a sweep distance direction, the delayed data is compared with new data, and the greater data is drawn into the new pixel. When the delayed data is greater, this detected image data is enlarged in the azimuth direction.
