A system for surgically repairing a rib of a patient is described. The system can include a first rib bracket, one or more fasteners, a driver and a caddy. The first rib bracket can be configured to be fixedly attached to a first side of the rib that faces a thoracic cavity of the patient. The one or more fasteners can be configured to fixedly attach the first rib bracket to the rib. The driver can have an end effector configured to drive the one or more fasteners into the rib. The caddy can be configured to retain the one or more fasteners and deliver these to a position adjacent the rib. The end effector can engage the one or more fasteners to drive the one or more fasteners from the caddy and into the rib to fixedly attach the first rib bracket to the first side of the rib.

Fixation devices and surgical techniques such as for rib stabilization

A fastener cartridge can include a body defining a plurality of retention bores that can each extend through the body and can each be configured to retain a fastener therein. The cartridge can also include a boss, a cam, and an actuator. The boss can extend from the body and can be insertable into a connection bore of a bone plate to align each retention bore with a fastener bore of the bone plate. The cam can be connected to the body and can be rotatable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The cam can be operated by the actuator and can be engageable with a body of the plate in the locked position to secure the plate to the cartridge.

Surgical plate fastener cartridge

An anchor assembly, for securing a first portion and a second portion of a separated sternum, can include a lock, an anchor, and a cerclage. The anchor can include a body locatable between the first portion and the second portion of the sternum, where the body can define an end portion. The anchor can include a collar connected to the body and extending outward from the end portion of the body. The collar can engage an outer surface of the sternum to limit movement of the body beyond the outer surface of the sternum. The cerclage can be connected to and can extend from the anchor. The cerclage can be configured to at least partially surround the first portion and the second portion of the separated sternum.

Rigid sternal fixation

A plate assembly for attaching a bone flap to a skull is provided and may include a first plate member attached to the bone flap and a second plate member supported by the first plate member and movable between a retracted position and an extended position relative to the first plate member. The second plate member may be removed from a cut line between the bone flap and the skull in the retracted position and may extend over the cut line in the extended position.

Retractable burr hole plate and method

A plate system for securing a first sternal portion and a second sternal portion of a separated sternum can include a first plate and a second plate. The first plate can include a first body and a first hook. The first body can include a first reduction bore. The first hook can extend from the first body. The first hook can be engageable with a lateral portion of the first sternal portion. The second plate can include a second body and a second hook. The second body can include a second reduction bore. The second hook can extend from the second body. The second hook can be engageable with a lateral portion of the second sternal portion opposite the first hook.

Sternal plates and methods of use

A system including a bone punch tool and a needle guide. The bone punch tool can include a support arm having a support arm proximal portion and a support arm distal portion, a pivot arm having a pivot arm proximal portion and a pivot arm distal portion, and an arcuate punch configured to punch through bone. The pivot arm distal portion can be pivotably coupled to the support arm distal portion, such that the pivot arm proximal portion is configured to be moved away from the support arm proximal portion to extend the arcuate punch into a punch position to punch an arcuate hole through bone. The needle guide can be configured to guide a needle through the arcuate hole.

A fiducial marker includes a fastener and a feedback component to provide a registration signal when engaged by a probe. The feedback component includes light-up cap, a conducting component, a magnetic component and an RFID tag. A cap for registering fiducial markers with robotic surgical systems includes a housing, a socket in the housing for coupling to a fastener, an access port in the housing, a switch disposed in the housing proximate the access port, and a sensory indicator device coupled to the switch, wherein the sensory indicator device produces a signal when activated through the access port to confirm marker contact. Methods of registering a fiducial marker fastener, such as with robotic surgical systems, include manipulating a probe to align with a signal-producing feedback component attached to or integrated with the fastener, and engaging the feedback component with the probe to activate a sensory feedback indicator.

A pectus bar pectus bar assembly can include a pectus bar and a stabilizer. The pectus bar can include a first portion including a first periphery and a second portion opposite the first portion. The stabilizer can include a stabilizer body including a recess engageable with the second portion. The stabilizer can also include a locking cam rotatable within the body to secure the stabilizer to the first portion.

To replace costal cartilage that has been surgically removed, a surgeon can implant a flexible element to connect a rib to the sternum. In some examples, the flexible element can be formed from a material having a selected durometer (e.g., a measure of material stiffness or hardness), and can be shaped to have a selected geometry (e.g., cross-sectional size and shape), to match the flexibility (e.g. resistance to bending) of the natural costal cartilage. The flexible element can connect to the rib via a rib bracket, which can be rigid, and can attach to a sternal end of the rib via one or more fasteners. The flexible element can connect to the sternum via a sternum bracket, which can also be rigid, and can also attach to the sternum via one or more fasteners. The fasteners can be screws, nails, staples, or others.

A medical device that may include a main body and a plurality of hooks. The main body includes a length extending along an axis between first and second ends. The main body may be deformable such that the axis forms an arch shape corresponding to a shape of a mandibular jaw or a maxillary jaw. The main body may include a plurality of sections each having first and second edges defining a first width and a plurality of openings disposed between the first and second edges and extending through a thickness of the main body. The main body may include a plurality of recessed portions defining a second width disposed between adjacent ones of the sections. Each of the hooks may extend from a corresponding one of the sections.

A mechanical arm assembly can include a link movable in space, an actuator, and a joint. The actuator can include a housing secured to the link and can include a cable within the housing, where the cable can be translatable relative to the housing and the link. The joint can include a main shaft, a main gear, a meshing gear, and a release plate.

The strut can connect the first plate member, the second plate member, and the burr hole cover.

An implant for a human rib can include an elongate body, a plurality of bores, and a placement tool interface. The elongate body can include a first portion including a flat outer face where the elongate body can be curved along a plane perpendicular to the flat outer face. The second portion can extend from the first portion to form a curved outer face. The plurality of bores can extend through the flat outer face of the first portion and into the second portion. The bores can extend partially into the curved outer face of the second portion. The placement tool interface can extend into the body.

A pectus bar stabilizer insertion tool can include a first handle, a second handle, a first head, a second head, and a locking shaft. The first handle can include a first distal portion. The second handle can include a second distal portion, and the second handle can be pivotably coupled to the first handle. The first and second handles can be moveable between an open position and a closed position. The first head can be coupled to the first distal portion and can be engageable with a first portion of a stabilizer. The first head can include a driver engageable with a lock of the stabilizer. The second head can be coupled to the second distal portion and can be engageable with a second portion of the stabilizer. The locking shaft can be coupled to the driver and operable to lock and unlock the stabilizer to a pectus bar.

An end effector coupler for a surgical arm can include a body, a proximal coupler, and a tool lock. The tool lock can releasably retain a tool stem to the end effector coupler. The tool lock can include a keyed opening, a pin bore, a pin disposed in the bin bore, a biasing element located in the pin bore, and a pin release including an actuator, the pin release operable to retract the pin into to the body to disengage the pin from the tool stem allowing release of the tool stem from the keyed opening.
