A chemical sensor for detecting a target substance in a gas sample, including a membrane; and an olfactory receptor fragment which is fixed to the membrane. The chemical sensor optionally includes a source electrode connected to one end of the membrane; and a drain electrode connected to the other end of the membrane, in which the membrane is a graphene.

According to one embodiment, a method for detecting a sample includes preparing a device for detecting a sample, the device including a measurement cassette, a first chamber formed by partitioning the cassette with a partition wall, a through-hole provided in the partition wall, a first electrode provided in the cassette, and a second electrode provided in the cassette, introducing a reagent and a sample containing a measuring object substance into the first chamber, introducing a conductive liquid into the second chamber, supplying current to the through-hole, allowing the measuring object substance whose surface is bound to and is covered by the tag particles via the capture substance in the first chamber to pass through the through-hole, and detecting presence of the measuring object substance.

Method and device for detecting sample

According to one embodiment, provided is a single particle analyzing device including a measuring vessel, first and second chambers in the vessel defined by an insulating membrane, a pore opening in the membrane to connect the chambers, and first and second electrodes in the chambers. Electric current flows between the electrodes through the pore. Electrical characteristics are measured during migration of the target from the first chamber to the second chamber to measure the size and shape of the target. According to one embodiment, a sample detection apparatus including an insulating partition to divide a first and a second region, a pore formed in the partition, a first electrode arranged in the first region, a second electrode arranged in the second region, a power source configured to apply electrical current between the first and second electrode in a state in which a reagent containing a capture substance to be bound to a target and a tag particle bound to the capture substance is introduced into the first region together with a sample, and an electrolyte solution is introduced into the second region, a measurement unit configured to observe a change in a conductive state, and a detection unit to detect presence/absence of the target in the sample based on an observation result.

Sample detection apparatus and detection method

A method for determining nucleotide sequence encompasses: injecting a solution containing a sample DNA into a chip cartridge provided with a detecting electrode, to which a probe DNA is immobilized; introducing an intercalator solution in the chip cartridge; obtaining a current-voltage characteristic curve by measuring a current in the solution due to an electrochemical reaction of the intercalator through the detecting electrode; obtaining a baseline by linearly approximating the current-voltage characteristic curve; obtaining a net current value by subtracting, from a peak current value of the current-voltage characteristic curve, a baseline current value obtained from the baseline at a peak voltage value defining the peak current value; and identifying a nucleotide sequence in the sample DNA, using the net current value.

Method and an apparatus for determining nucleotide sequence, and a computer program product to be executed by the apparatus

A nucleic acid detection device includes a flow channel through which a solution containing a nucleic acid recognition body flows, probe electrodes having immobilized nucleic acid probes, and a counter electrode used to measure an electrochemical response of the nucleic acid recognition body. The flow channel includes a curved portion and a straight portion continued from and located downstream of the curved portion. The probe electrodes are arranged at intervals along the straight portion, avoiding an upstream end of the straight portion that is located within a distance L from the curved portion. The distance L is given by L=0.065&#xd7;Re&#xd7;D, Re=&#x3c1;uD/&#x3bc;, and D=4S/Lp where &#x3c1;, u, and &#x3bc; are a concentration, a flow velocity, and a viscosity of the solution, and S and Lp are a sectional area and a wall peripheral perimeter of the flow channel, respectively.

Nucleic acid detection device

A base sequence detection apparatus is provided with a channel formed on a base sequence detection chip. Working electrodes are formed along the channel and include a probe immobilized thereon, counter electrodes are formed on the inner surface of the channel and, reference electrodes are formed on the inner surface of the channel. An introduction port introduces solution or air from the upstream side of the channel, a delivery port delivers the solution or air in the channel, and the sample is injected into the channel through a sample injection port.

Base sequence detection apparatus and base sequence automatic analyzing apparatus

A nucleic acid detection cassette includes a cassette body, a nucleic acid detection region disposed in the cassette body, a first channel disposed in the cassette body, a second channel disposed in the cassette body. The nucleic acid detection region, in which a nucleic acid probe is immobilized, has a reagent inflow port, to which the first channel is connected, and a reagent outflow port, to which the second channel is connected. The nucleic acid detection cassette further includes a reagent injection portion which injects a reagent into the first channel, and a nucleic acid pretreatment region which is disposed in the first channel and which performs pretreatment for the detection of a nucleic acid. The first channel, the second channel, the nucleic acid detection region, the nucleic acid pretreatment region, and the reagent injection portion are sealed.
