A coal gasification furnace includes a gasification chamber for producing therein a burnable gas from coal, a burner arranged on a side wall of the gasification chamber so as to inject coal and an oxidizing agent along a peripheral direction of the gasification chamber, a slag cooling chamber provided below the gasification chamber, and a slag tap partitioning the gasification chamber and the slag cooling chamber. The slag tap has a hole formed in a shape whereby the central portion of the hole is generally circular and oppositely directed slits extend outwardly from the central portion of the hole.

The present invention provides a desulfurizing agent comprising a porous oxide carrier, at least one of molybdenum oxide and tungsten oxide as a first component, supported on the carrier, and at least one of manganese oxide, cobalt oxide and nickel oxide as a second component, supported mainly on the surface of the first component. In a coal gasification system using the present desulfurizing agent and a power generation system using the purified gas therefrom, a reduction column for converting a portion of sulfur dioxide in the regenerated gas to hydrogen sulfide as a pretreatment means to a Claus reaction column can be eliminated when the desulfurizing agent is regenerated. Furthermore, in the present invention a desulfurizing agent capable of reacting with hydrogen sulfide to form a solid sulfur compound at a high temperature is supplied to a gasification furnace and the resulting sulfur compound is withdrawn from the gasification furnace as molten slag together with ashes of fine coal powder, where desulfurization can be attained without a Claus reaction column and without a reduction column. Such desulfurization is likewise applicable to a coal gasification system and a power generation system based on the coal gasification.

A mass spectrometer includes apparatus for irradiating a target with a primary beam, apparatus for forwarding the target from the outside of a vacuum chamber, apparatus for analyzing the mass of secondary ions emitted by the target, and apparatus for collecting data on the secondary ions thus mass-analyzed. Further, apparatus is provided for synchronizing the timing for the forwarding of the target and that for the data collection and for stopping substantially the data collection during a predetermined period of time (T) after the stopping of the forwarding of the target.

A spectrum display device for displaying in colors a spectrum obtained by a scientific instrument such as a mass spectrometer in which video signals for producing two colors are supplied to a color display device such as a CRT, for example, a video signal for producing a red color contains information with respect to a first spectrum and a video signal for producing a blue color contains information with respect to a second spectrum, and therefore a region on a display face where the first and second spectra coincide with each other assumes a magenta color when the video signal for producing the red color and the video signal for producing the blue color are simultaneously supplied to the color display device. Accordingly, this spectrum display device makes it possible to perceive the degree of coincidence between the two spectra by a mixed color and to perceive a difference between the two spectra by the two original colors.

Sulfur oxides contained in the flue gas from coal-fired boiler are adsorbed by an adsorbent prepared by dry-distilling a portion of fuel coal, thereby producing semi-coke, and activating the semi-coke by steam, and then the sulfur oxides-adsorbed adsorbent is heated to desorb the adsorbed sulfur oxides at a high concentration. The desorbed sulfur oxides are passed through a bed of semi-coke before the activation to recover the sulfur oxides as elemental sulfur.

Process for dry desulfurization of flue gas

The present invention is done on the basis of knowledge obtained from experimental results shown in FIG. 1 with respect to a heat recovery method from gasified products of hydrocarbon. The heat recovery method from gasified products of hydrocarbon of the invention is to introduce the gas containing oily matters produced by gasification of hydrocarbon into the fluidizied bed where heat is recovered by indirect heat exchange between said product gas and the cooling agent passing through the heat transfer tube arranged in the fluidized bed, in which said product gas is passed through high temperature fluidized bed kept at about 450.degree.-500.degree. C. and then through the low temperature fluidized bed kept at about 250.degree.-300.degree. C. successively and that the heat of said product gas is recovered by heat exchange in said high temperature fluidized bed and low temperature fluidized bed respectively. The heat recovery method by the invention is able to increase the heat recovery quantity of product gas by the fluidized bed heat exchanger and remarkably decrease the possibility of plugging by coking at the gas cooling.

Heat recovery method from gasified products of hydrocarbon

A linked scan type mass spectrometer wherein the mass number of a metastable ion originating from a precursor ion is measured by scanning the magnetic and electric fields at a constant ratio between the two fields. Calculation is performed on a first electrical signal representative of the mass number of the precursor ion, a second electrical signal corresponding to a value of the electric field at which the mass number of the precursor ion is detected, and a third electrical signal corresponding to a value of the electric field at which the metastable ion is detected during scanning of the electric field and magnetic field, to thereby determine the mass number of the metastable ion. The third electrical signal is obtained by measuring a value of the magnetic field which contributes to the dispersion of ions. Means is provided for correcting the measured value of the magnetic field, thereby determining the mass number of the metastable ion with high accuracy.
