A linear compressor is provided in which a driving spring and an elastic supporting member for supporting a compressing mechanism portion are disposed such that a piston and the compressing mechanism portion move in opposite phases such that vibration of a hermetic vessel is canceled out. The linear compressor comprises a hermetic vessel having a compressing mechanism portion and a linear motor therein. The compressing mechanism portion includes a piston-side mechanism and a cylinder-side mechanism, the former includes the piston and the mechanism member which is movable together with the piston, the latter includes the cylinder and the stator which connects with the cylinder. The cylinder-side mechanism member is elastically supported at opposite ends in the hermetic vessel by a first elastic member, and a reciprocating force in the axial direction is given the piston-side mechanism by a second elastic member whose one end is supported by the hermetic vessel.

Linear compressor with vibration canceling spring arrangement

A linear compressor includes a cylinder supported in a hermetic vessel by a support mechanism. A piston is supported concentrically with the cylinder such that the piston can move in an axial direction of the cylinder. A compression chamber is formed between the cylinder and the piston. A linear motor portion has a moving member connected to the piston through a holding member. A stator is fixed to the cylinder to form a magnetic path between the stator and the moving member. The linear motor portion generates thrust for moving the piston in the axial direction. A sensor detects a displacement of the axial length center of the moving member and a DC bias current is fed to the linear motor to align the axial length of the moving member and the axial length of the stator with each other at the time of operation.

Linear compressor

It is an object of the present invention to provide a high-efficiency linear compressor in which even if a compression chamber is defined utilizing an inner space of the linear motor to reduce its size, an amount of heat transmitted from the linear motor to the compression chamber can be reduced by forming a space between the linear motor and a cylinder which defines the compression chamber. The linear compressor comprises a cylinder having a flange and a cylindrical portion supported in a hermetic vessel by a support mechanism, a piston movably supported in the cylindrical portion along an axial direction thereof, a spring member applying an axial direction to the piston, and a linear motor having a stator fixed to the flange of the cylinder and disposed around an outer periphery of the cylindrical portion and a moving member coupled to the piston, wherein a space is formed between the stator and the cylindrical portion.

An object of the present invention is to provide a high-efficiency and reliable linear compressor in which even when a pressing force is applied to its piston, the piston is turnably connected and supported through a connecting rod so that sliding surface pressure between the piston and a cylinder is not increased. The invention provides a linear compressor comprising a cylinder supported in a hermetic vessel by a support mechanism, a piston slidably supported by the cylinder along its axial direction, a spring member for applying an axial force to the piston, a connecting mechanism for connecting the piston and the spring member with each other, and a linear motor having a stator coupled to the cylinder and a moving member coupled to the piston, wherein and the connecting mechanism is connected to the piston such the connecting mechanism can rock with respect to the piston.

A linear compressor comprises a cylinder supported in a hermetic vessel by a supporting mechanism, a piston which is concentric with the cylinder and is slidably supported along its axial direction, and a linear motor for generating thrust force by forming a magnetic passage by a movable portion secured to the piston and a stationary portion secured to the cylinder, in which refrigerant introduced into the hermetic vessel from a suction tube is inhaled and compressed by reciprocating motion of the piston driven by the linear motor and the compressed refrigerant is discharged out from the hermetic vessel, wherein the suction tube is provided in the vicinity of a suction port leading to a compression chamber formed by the piston and the cylinder. With this structure, the refrigerant introduced from the suction tube is not heated by a linear motor, and the compressing efficiency can be prevented from being lowered.

A linear compressor disclosed herein includes a cylinder whose axial direction is directed to a horizontal direction. The linear compressor comprises a cylinder supported in a hermetic vessel by a supporting mechanism, a piston slidably supported along an axial direction of the cylinder concentrically with the cylinder, and a linear motor for generating thrust force by forming a magnetic passage by a movable portion secured to the piston and a stationary portion secured to the cylinder. The supporting mechanism comprises first and second coil springs supporting the cylinder from its opposite ends in the hermetic vessel, and at least one of the first and second coil springs comprises a plurality of coil springs which are juxtaposed to each other.

A scroll compressor includes stationary and orbiting scroll members in engagement with each other. The stationary scroll member includes a stationary end plate having first and second end surfaces opposite to each other, a stationary scroll wrap protruding axially from the first end surface of the stationary end plate, a discharge port defined in the stationary end plate in the proximity of a center thereof, a generally horseshoe-shaped partition wall protruding axially from the second end surface of the stationary end plate, and spaced apart mounting legs protruding axially from the second end surface of the stationary end plate and continuous with the partition wall in such a manner that the partition wall extends between the mounting legs. A scroll compressor includes stationary and orbiting scroll members in engagement with each other. The stationary scroll member includes a stationary end plate having first and second end surfaces opposite to each other, a stationary scroll wrap protruding axially from the first end surface of the stationary end plate, a discharge port defined in the stationary end plate in the proximity of a center thereof, and a recess defined in the stationary end plate on the second surface thereof. A check valve is received in the recess so as to open or close the discharge port. The recess has a shape substantially identical to the shape of the check valve and also has a depth greater than a maximum lift of the check valve.

A scroll compressor includes an orbital drive mechanism for causing orbiting of an orbiting scroll relative to a stationary scroll. The orbiting scroll is formed with a generally cylindrical boss extending in a direction away from the stationary scroll. The orbital drive mechanism includes a main shaft rotatably supported by a compressor housing, an eccentric shaft extending from one end face of the main shaft and having a longitudinal axis parallel to, but offset laterally from a longitudinal axis of the main shaft, and an eccentric bush having a socket inserted rotatably into the cylindrical boss. The eccentric shaft, engaged in the socket, is of a non-circular cross-section having short and long axes perpendicular to each other. The eccentric shaft has rounded opposite apexes lying on the long axis thereof to define first and second rounded side faces, while the socket has a first inner wall portion of a smaller curvature confronting the first rounded side face of the eccentric shaft and a second inner wall portion of a greater curvature confronting the second rounded side face of the eccentric shaft. The eccentric shaft is spaced a predetermined distance from inner wall portions of the socket in the direction in which the short axis of the eccentric shaft extends so that the eccentric bush can swing relative to the eccentric shaft about a center of curvature of the first rounded side face of the eccentric shaft, thus varying the orbiting radius.

A scroll compressor includes an orbital drive mechanism for orbiting an orbiting scroll relative to a stationary scroll. The orbiting scroll is formed with a generally cylindrical boss extending in a direction away from the stationary scroll. The orbital drive mechanism includes a main shaft rotatably supported by a compressor housing, an eccentric shaft extending from one end face of the main shaft and having a longitudinal axis parallel to, but offset laterally from a longitudinal axis of the main shaft, and an eccentric bush having a socket inserted rotatably into the cylindrical boss. The eccentric shaft, engaged in the socket, has first and second rounded side faces opposite to each other both having a common center of curvature, while the socket has first and second inner wall portions opposite to each other, each of which has a center of curvature substantially aligned with the common center of curvature of the first and second rounded side faces of the eccentric shaft. Third and fourth side faces of the eccentric shaft extending between associated ends of the first and second rounded side faces confront third and fourth inner wall portions of the socket and are spaced inwardly therefrom so that the eccentric bush can swing relative to the eccentric shaft about the common center of curvature of the first and second rounded side faces of the eccentric shaft, thus varying the orbiting radius.

The space in a closed container is divided into two parts by a partition wall member, gas jetting holes through which a high pressure gas released from a compression mechanism section is passed are formed in the partition wall member and a gas collision plate is disposed in opposed relation to the gas jetting holes, and therefore, there is provided a compressor of high achievement factor which is capable of preventing the discharge of oil from the compressor to a refrigerating cycle from being increased even if operated at high rotational frequency.
