An electronic device includes a display having a memory function and a communications capability. Display functions are controlled based on a state of the operation of the device and/or based on a state of received data. Also disclosed is a method of selectively displaying advertising information based on a state of the device where the advertising can be maintained on the display without requiring any power consumption.

A data distributing system wherein an electronic book data storage center which is stored with a plurality of pieces of book data is capable of communicating with electronic book vending machinesvia a communication line and/or a communication satellite. In each of the vending machines, a storage medium can be inserted. The vending machine selects a piece of book data, which may be desired by the user, based on data stored in the storage medium as data to be to recorded into the storage medium. The user himself or herself can select a piece of book data. Also, the recorded data can be deleted from the storage medium in compliance with the user's request. These vending machines may have a function of casting accounts.

An information display device which is structured as an electronic book with liquid crystal displays which display information stored in a storage medium. The information display device further has a first driving section which drives the liquid crystal displays and a second driving section which drives the recording medium, and while the displays are reset, the second driving section is inhibited from driving the storage medium. Also, the information display device has a speaker, and when a mode to display information on the liquid crystal displays at a high speed is selected, the speaker is inhibited from reproducing sound.

An image information display device, such as an electronic book, that displays contents stored in a recording medium on a first screen and a second screen in which liquid crystal is used. The device includes means for paging through image information and means for screen selection. The means for screen selection is used to select a two-screen mode in which the contents are displayed on both the first and second screens or a one-screen mode in which an image is displayed on either of the screens. By selecting the one-screen mode, energy consumption may be reduced.

An information display device can be structured as an electronic book which has a first screen and a second screen made of liquid crystal with a memory effect. A dry battery can be used as its power source section. The remaining electric power of the battery is detected by measuring the voltage, and immediately before the remaining electric power becomes a minimum voltage necessary for erasure of the screens, the first and second screens are reset so that the images displayed thereon can be erased.

A dc motor wherein a driving force thereof can be used effectively with a simple and compact mechanical construction and a motor controlling system which can control such a dc motor to be driven efficiently. The motor comprises at least two coils, and change-over means for changing electric connection of the coils to change over the motor, when power is selectively supplied to the coils, between a first mode in which the torque produced is relatively high and the rotational frequency is relatively low and a second mode in which the torque is relatively low and the rotational frequency is relatively high. The motor controlling system includes selecting means for automatically selecting one of the first and second modes to control the change-over means in response to a given condition of the motor.

A photographic camera includes a camera body, a cartridge holder, and a shift device. The cartridge holder is capable of holding a film cartridge to be used in the photographic camera, and movable between a first position in which the film cartridge can be removed from the camera and a second position in which the film cartridge can be used in the photographic camera. The second position is aligned to the first position. The shift device shifts the cartridge holder between the first and second positions. The camera also can include a flash device, having a flashlight emitting portion, for illuminating an object to be photographed by a flash light. A camera using a film cartridge in which whether the film is exposed or unexposed can be distinguished by the phase of rotation of a shaft to rewinding a film, wherein said camera comprising: a film chamber to receive the film cartridge, a lid of the film chamber to capable of receiving the film cartridge in the film chamber when the lid is opened, a driving member which is connected with the shaft of the film cartridge and for driving the shaft, and a block member for blocking opening of the lid of the film chamber when the driving member is not the phase of rotation corresponding to the phase of rotation of the shaft in which the film is exposed.

Rewinding device for cameras

A film cartridge includes a rewinding shaft for rewinding a film, a case having a film exit/entrance and accommodating the film rewound by the shaft therearound in a light-intercepted condition, and a locking mechanism for locking the leading portion of the film in the film exit/entrance in the vicinity thereof, so that the film does not get out of the cartridge more than a predetermined amount or get out of the exit/entrance carelessly. The shaft or a film feeding-out member in the cartridge is set in a predetermined position, so that the shaft or the member is immediately and smoothly connected with a corresponding member of a camera for accommodating the cartridge. A camera accommodates the cartridge to take the advantage. The camera accommodates the cartridge having a film feeding-out mechanism, a film rewinding mechanism, and a portion for accommodating only the film, so that after the cartridge is accommodated in the camera, each mechanism is suitably and automatically driven to perform a film feeding-out operation or a film rewinding operation.

In a remote controllable camera system having a remote controller, a camera body provides with calculation means for calculating an angle between the remote controller and an optical axis of a photo-taking lens and moving means for moving the optical axis to a point where the angle is a predetermined value. Furthermore, the camera body provides with judging means for judging whether or not the remote controller is within the field of view of the photo-taking lens and displaying means for displaying the judging result of the judging means.

Remote controllable camera system

A film feeding apparatus of a camera using a film having two perforations in each frame. A perforation detecting lever has claws spaced at a predetermined distance apart from each other so that the distance therebetween is equal to the distance between the two perforations which are adjacent to each other across the boundary between frames. The perforation detecting lever engages the perforations and disengages therefrom in unison with an operation for feeding one frame to be performed after the proceeding frame is exposed to light. As a result, film feeding is allowed to proceed until both claws simultaneously engage two respective perforations in the film which occurs after the film has advanced one frame.

A camera system on which a remote control device enables photographing with a camera body directed to a user of the remote control device, is controlled by a program of a microcomputer for controlling provided in the camera body. In this program, while the lens direction of the camera body is being shifted by the remote control device, a release signal sent from the remote control device is disregarded. As a result, even if the user pushes a release button by mistake to transmit a release signal, the microcomputer does not accept a remote control release signal while the lens is moving by a remote control drive signal, thereby preventing exposure.
