The present invention aims at providing a blade for use with a development device, method of manufacturing the same, die for manufacturing the same, and development device and image-forming device having the same that can more stably form a high quality image. The inventive blade is manufactured using a stamping die comprising an upper mold portion including a knockout, a lower mold portion including a punch and movable relative to the upper mold portion. In the stamping die, the knockout includes in cross section a first flat portion and a triangular projection portion that projects from the first flat portion, while the punch includes in cross section a second flat portion and a triangular groove portion formed on the second flat portion, and a first angle at which the triangular projection portion projects from the first flat portion is larger than a second angle at which the triangular groove portion is recessed from the second flat portion.

A toner carrier is included in an image forming apparatus wherein the electrical resistance between a shaft of the toner carrier and a surface which covers the shaft is different depending on the polarity of the voltage applied between th shaft and the surface. A resistance characteristic is thereby obtained having a resistance that allows prescribed current to flow from the shaft side to the surface side and which makes current flow from the surface side to the shaft side difficult. This prevents leakage current being received from the surface of the photosensitive drum. The amount of charging up of the toner therefore does not drop and a prescribed amount of charging up can be maintained, which means that fog of the image background surface does not occur. Furthermore, because there is no voltage dependence at the toner carrier surface from the shaft side, stable image density can be achieved, enabling high image quality to be achieved.

Disclosed herein is a conductive brush charging device for charging the surface of an image forming member. The conductive brush charging device includes a conductive brush located so as to rotate in contact with the image forming member, and a developer removing member formed of a porous material and located so as to be kept in surface contact with the conductive brush over the width thereof. When the conductive brush is rotated, the porous developer removing member rubs against the brush along its bristles to thereby remove a developer deposited to the brush. Since the developer removing member is formed of the porous material, the developer removed is retained in numerous pores of the porous developer removing member, thus achieving a long-term cleaning function.

Conductive brush charging device

An electrostatic latent image formed on a photosensitive drum is electrostatically developed with a non-magnetic type developer, and is electrostatically transferred from the drum to a paper. The developer is composed of a toner component and a resin powder component, one component of which has a polarity opposite to that of an electric charge of the other component generated by triboelectrification therebetween. In the developing process, a conductive foam rubber developing roller is used, which includes a conductive tubular foam rubber roller element, and a metal shaft inserted into a central bore thereof. The roller element has an outer thicker portion including a conductive filler dispersed therein, and an inner solid skin layer defining the central bore thereof and exhibiting an electrical resistivity considerably higher than that of the thicker portion for lack of conductive filler. Nevertheless, a sufficient electrical contact is established between the roller element and the shaft. A thin metal blade is pressed against the roller for regulating the thickness of the developer entrained thereby, and is arranged to compensate for a resilient deformation of the shaft caused when pressing the blade against the roller.
