The present invention provides an A-B block copolymer that enables preparation of a polymer emulsion useful as a binder component for an aqueous inkjet ink that is excellent in inkjet printability and is capable of forming a printed film excellent in durability, such as adhesiveness and rub resistance, on a substrate to be printed, such as a polyolefin-based plastic film. The block copolymer is an A-B block copolymer satisfying the following requirements (1-1) to (1-3). (1-1) Containing 90% by mass or more of a constituent unit derived from a methacrylate-based monomer or the like. (1-2) The chain A has a constituent unit (A-i) derived from methyl methacrylate or the like and a constituent unit (A-ii) derived from 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate or the like. (1-3) The chain B has a constituent unit (B) derived from methacrylic acid, a constituent unit (B-i) derived from methyl methacrylate or the like, and a constituent unit (B-ii) derived from 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate or the like.

A-B block copolymer, polymer emulsion and water-based inkjet ink

An aqueous pigment dispersion for preparing an environmentally conscious aqueous inkjet ink in which a pigment is finely and stably dispersed and which records images having excellent durability, glossiness, color developability, and adhesiveness to various printing substrates. The aqueous pigment dispersion contains a pigment, water, a water-soluble organic solvent, and a polymeric dispersant that disperses the pigment. The polymeric dispersant is a polymer including a constitutional unit (i) derived from (meth)acrylic acid and/or itaconic acid, and a constituent unit (ii) derived from (meth)acrylate derived from biological material, such as ethyl (meth)acrylate, having an acid value of 30 to 250 mgKOH/g, number average molecular weight of 1,000 to 30,000, and a polydispersity index (weight average molecular weight/number average molecular weight) of 2.5 or less. The content of the constituent unit (ii) is 50% by mass or more, and at least part of carboxy groups is neutralized with an alkali.

Aqueous pigment dispersion liquid, aqueous ink-jet ink, and dry coating

A quinacridone solid solution pigment that allows a colored product to have high chroma and a properly yellowish hue and has a controlled particle diameter, and a method for producing the quinacridone solid solution pigment. In the method, a water-containing crude quinacridone solid solution is produced by a co-cyclization reaction of a diarylaminoterepththalic acid and a dialkylarylaminoterephthalic acid in polyphosphoric acid, then the resulting water-containing crude quinacridone solid solution having a mass ratio of unsubstituted quinacridone to a 2,9-dialkylquinacridone of 85:15 to 60:40 is dried, thereby obtaining a powdery, crude quinacridone solid solution having a water content of less than 1%. Then, the resulting powdery, crude quinacridone solid solution is heated in a liquid medium that does not dissolve the crude quinacridone solid solution. Also, a pigment dispersion liquid and an inkjet ink each containing the obtained quinacridone solid solution pigment are provided.

Method for producing quinacridone solid-solution pigment, pigment dispersion, and ink-jet ink

There is provided a technique for producing a quinacridone solid solution pigment, the technique making it possible to obtain a quinacridone solid solution pigment which produces a colored product having high chroma and a bluish hue, more preferably which has controlled particle diameters. Specifically, a method for producing a quinacridone solid solution pigment, the method including a crude quinacridone solid solution production step of subjecting a diarylaminoterepththalic acid and a dialkylarylaminoterephthalic acid to a co-cyclization reaction in polyphosphoric acid, thereby obtaining a water-containing crude quinacridone solid solution containing a solid solution of an unsubstituted quinacridone and a 2,9-dialkylquinacridone, the solid solution containing water, a drying step of drying the water-containing crude quinacridone solid solution to reduce the water content to less than 1% and obtain a powdery, crude quinacridone solid solution, and a pigmentation step of heating the powdery, crude quinacridone solid solution in a liquid medium that cannot dissolve the crude quinacridone solid solution.

Method for producing quinacridone solid solution pigment, pigment dispersion, and inkjet ink

There is provided a resin-treated pigment that is useful as a coloring agent for color filters or inkjet inks, that can expand a hue range and improve performances such as color density, color developability, and transparency, and that is excellent in properties such as dispersibility and dispersion stability of pigments, re-dissolvability, and alkali-solubility. An A-B block copolymer 90% by mass or more of which is constituted by a methacrylate-based monomer or methacrylate-based monomers, in which the block A has a carboxy group-containing methacrylate as a constituent, and the block B has an ionic bond moiety represented by formula (1) as a constitutional unit, the ionic bond moiety containing a methacrylate, and an organic coloring matter having one or more sulfonate ions each being bonded thereto and each being a counter ion of a nitrogen cation of a quaternary ammonium salt.

A novel aqueous emulsion solution is provided that can be used as a binder for forming a coating film suitable for an inkjet printing system. The present invention is an aqueous emulsion solution containing a polymer I and a polymer II mixed together therein, wherein the polymer I is an A-B block copolymer formed from 90 mass % or more of a methacrylate-based monomer, the A-B block copolymer neutralized with an alkali, a polymer block A is substantially water-insoluble and has a number average molecular weight of 1000 to 10000 and a polydispersity index of 1.5 or less, a polymer block B is synthesized using a monomer containing at least a methacrylic acid and has an acid value of 30 to 250 mgKOH/g, the A-B block copolymer has a number average molecular weight of 5000 to 20000, a content of the polymer block A of 5 to 60% in the A-B block copolymer, and a polydispersity index as a whole of 1.6 or less, the polymer II is a polymer obtained by polymerizing a hydrophobic addition polymerizable monomer and having a glass transition temperature of 70&#xb0; C. or lower, and further the mass ratio of the polymer I and the polymer II is 5 to 80:95 to 20.

Disclosed are an aqueous pigment dispersion containing at least a pigment, water, a high-molecular dispersant, and an alkali. The high-molecular dispersant is a diblock polymer having a formula (1) of A-B or a triblock polymer having a formula (2) of A-B-C. The diblock or triblock polymer is a diblock or triblock polymer obtained by polymerizing addition-polymerizable monomers with a radical generator while using an organic iodide as a polymerization initiating compound and an organic phosphorus compound, organic nitrogen compound or organic oxygen compound as a catalyst. The saponification product of the copolymer has property to gel the electrolyte. A high-molecular gelling agent for the electrolyte is produced by saponifying the precursor with a saponifying agent selected from the group consisting of acids and alkalis while using a reaction medium selected from the group consisting of water and hydrophobic organic solvents.
