The hinge assembly includes a housing and a monitor bezel for supporting a video monitor. The bezel is pivotally mounted on the housing about a pivot axis. A friction member is attached to one of the housing and the bezel and positioned and in sliding contact with a contact surface of the other of the housing and the bezel. The friction member is radially spaced apart from the pivot axis. A bias member biases the friction member against the contact surface. The pivoting of the bezel about the pivot axis causes the friction member to slide along the contact surface.

Hinge mechanism for a monitor of an overhead console

A mount assembly and method are provided for securing a component to an interior mounting surface in a vehicle having a sunroof. Initially, a sunroof frame is provided. The sunroof frame includes a cross-member disposed laterally relative to a longitudinal axis of the vehicle. The component is then attached to the cross-member of the sunroof frame such that the cross-member supports the weight of the component.

Interior attachment apparatus and method for a vehicle component

A removable vehicle entertainment system is provided. The system includes a video display screen for displaying entertainment to an occupant of the vehicle. The system can be removed from the docking bracket in the vehicle, and attached to an external docking station such that the system can be used independently of the power supply and speakers of the vehicle. Further, the system can be used as a self-contained personal entertainment system. The system includes mechanical and/or electrical componentry that determines the orientation of the video display screen, and allows the electronics of the system to display an image on the screen in an appropriate orientation, thus avoiding upside-down images in the various uses of the system.
