A system can include a first controllable valve configured to output a control pressure on one or more first pressure control lines, a second controllable valve configured to output a control pressure on one or more second pressure control lines, a transfer valve in fluid communication with the first controllable valve and the second controllable valve, and a hydraulic centering system operatively associated with and/or forming part of the transfer valve. The transfer valve can be configured to move between a first position, a second position, and a third position. The hydraulic centering system can be configured to maintain the transfer valve in the first position.

Valve systems

Apparatus and associated methods relate to passively limiting a load of a stalled linear hydraulic actuator that actuates a kinematic device. Damage to a stalled linear hydraulic actuator, associated mounting structure(s), any associated linking mechanism(s), and/or a kinematic device controlled thereby can be prevented quickly and without necessarily forfeiting control of the kinematic device. Such damage prevention can be performed using a cross-bleed safety mechanism connected in parallel with the linear hydraulic actuator. The cross-bleed safety mechanism includes a bilaterally moveable spool within a hydraulic cylinder. The bilaterally moveable spool is located between hydraulic chambers that are in fluid communication with corresponding chambers of the linear hydraulic actuator. In response to being sufficiently displaced from an equilibrium position in each direction of movement by a pressure difference thereacross, the bilaterally moveable spool unblocks bypass channels thereby limiting the stalled linear actuator.

Cross-bleed safety mechanism for a linear hydraulic actuator

A system includes an actuation pump sub-system (APS) with an inlet configured to feed fuel from a fuel source into the APS, a first outlet configured for connecting the APS in fluid communication with an actuation system to supply fuel flow for actuation, a second outlet feeding into a supply line, and a third outlet feeding into the supply line. A fuel oil cooler (FOC) is included in a first branch of the supply line. The FOC is in fluid communication to receive flow from the second outlet. The APS includes a bypass valve (BPV) in a second branch of the supply line, in parallel with the FOC and in fluid communication to allow flow from the third outlet into the supply line bypassing the FOC. A main pump and control sub-system has a main inlet connected in fluid communication with the supply line downstream of the BPV and FOC.

Single variable displacement fuel systems with fuel oil coolers

A system includes an actuation pump sub-system (APS). A fuel oil cooler (FOC) is included in a first branch of a supply line. The FOC is in fluid communication to receive flow from a second outlet of the APS. The APS includes a bypass valve (BPV) in a second branch of the supply line, in parallel with the FOC and in fluid communication to allow flow from the third outlet into the supply line bypassing the FOC. A combined main and augmentor pump sub-system (CMAPS) has a main inlet connected in fluid communication with the supply line downstream of the BPV and FOC, a gas generator (GG) outlet for supplying fuel to a downstream gas generator, and an augmentor outlet for supplying fuel to a downstream augmentor.

Single variable displacement fuel systems with fuel oil cooler bypass and gas generator fault accommodation

A system includes a burn flow line and a flow divider valve in fluid communication with the burn flow line to split flow from the burn flow line to a primary line and to a secondary line for supplying fuel to a set of primary engine nozzles and to a set of secondary engine nozzles, respectively. A sensor operatively connected to the flow divider valve to produce a feedback signal indicative of flow split between the primary line and the secondary line. A controller is operatively connected to receive the feedback signal from the senor, compare the feedback signal to a stored flow split value for a mismatch, and output an alert message upon detecting the mismatch.

Engine fuel nozzle degradation tracking

A method includes using two parallel electrohydraulic servo valves EHSVs with a single transfer valve to move an actuator during a normal operation mode. The method includes upon failure of one of the EHSVs, using the single transfer valve to disconnect a non-operational one of the EHSVs and continuing to move the actuator with a functional one of the EHSVs in a backup mode.

Three way transfer valve for parallel electrohydraulic servo valve control of actuator

A dual valve fuel metering system comprising a flow path defined between a fuel inlet and a fuel outlet. The flow path includes a primary flow path and a secondary flow path, wherein the fuel outlet is configured and adapted to be in fluid communication with at least one engine fuel manifold. Dual valve fuel metering systems

A metering valve has a shutoff position at which it blocks flow from the metering valve outlet line from reaching an outlet to a use. A spool has a first end and a second end. The housing has a first shoulder associated with the first end and a second shoulder associated with the second end. In the shutoff position, the spool has the first end spaced from the first shoulder, and the second end spaced from the second shoulder. A fuel system for a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

Metering valve with mid-stroke shutoff

A system includes a flow inlet conduit and a primary conduit that branches from the flow inlet conduit for delivering flow to a set of primary nozzles. An equalization bypass valve (EBV) connects between the flow inlet conduit and a secondary conduit for delivering flow to a set of secondary nozzles. The EBV is connected to an equalization conduit (EC). A pressure equalization solenoid is connected to the EC to selectively connect a servo supply pressure conduit and/or a return pressure (PDF) conduit into fluid communication with the EC. An EBV rate limiting orifice (RLO) is connected in the PDF conduit. A bypass conduit branches from the PDF conduit on a first side of the EBV RLO and reconnects to the PDF conduit on a second side of the EBV RLO. An orifice bypass valve (OBV) is connected to the bypass conduit and acts to selectively bypass the EBV RLO.
