The disclosed computer-implemented method may include (i) detecting a battery condition of a wearable battery-operated device that indicates a threat to a battery's health and (ii) in response to detecting the battery condition, performing a battery-protection action by initiating a reverse power flow across a bidirectional connection from the wearable battery-operated device to a portable charging case that is designed to charge the wearable battery-operated device. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

The disclosed system may include multiple electronic components and multiple charger battery modules. Systems and methods for providing a distributed battery architecture

An electronic device supplies power to system load(s) from a first battery power source and a second battery power source connected in series across a re-configurable device section boundary. A battery monitor monitors voltage across each individual battery cell within the first and second battery power sources. The battery monitor directs a charge circuit as to how and when to charge the first and second battery power sources using an external power source. The battery monitor also directs the charge circuit as to how and when to use the first and second battery power sources to power the system load(s).

Series battery discharge management across a device section boundary

A device for controlling battery operation includes a battery cell, a thermal cutoff, and a battery management system. The thermal cutoff is coupled in series between the battery cell and a system load of the device. The thermal cutoff has at least three terminals. A first terminal of the thermal cutoff is electrically-coupled to the battery cell and a second terminal of the thermal cutoff is electrically-coupled to the system load. The thermal cutoff includes a permanent failure mechanism having an open state and closed state wherein the closed state allows electrical communication between the first terminal and the second terminal. The battery management system is electrically-coupled to a third terminal of the thermal cutoff. The permanent failure mechanism permanently switches to the open state in response to an electrical signal from the battery management system.

A method of determining a temperature of a component in an electronic device includes obtaining a posture of the electronic device, selecting a first temperature sensor from a plurality of temperature sensors based on the obtained posture, obtaining a first measured temperature from the first temperature sensor, determining the temperature of the component based on the first measured temperature from the first temperature sensor, and in accordance with the determined temperature meeting one or more criteria, adjusting performance of the component.

A system for battery current monitoring includes a system power throttle stored in memory and executable by the one or more processors to place a battery of an electronic device into a state of expected zero-drain throughout a time interval while the electronic device remains active, and a battery leakage monitor stored in the memory and executable by the one or more processors to detect a battery charge leak based on a series of time-separated parameter measurements for the battery collected during the time interval.
