In an embodiment, a method is provided. The method of this embodiment provides transmitting data from a source node to a destination node, receiving a special flow control pause frame transmitted by the destination node in response to the destination node detecting a flow modification condition, and adjusting transmission of the data to the destination node in accordance with information included in the special flow control pause frame.

Selective flow control

A method for dynamic flow control includes accepting incoming data into a shared resource during a first time period after transmitting a flow control message, and diverting incoming data from the shared resource during a second time period that is after the first time period.

Dynamic flow control support

An apparatus and a system, as well as a method and an article, may operate to control a data flow associated with one of a plurality of ports sharing a resource, including a memory. The port having the controlled data flow may have an actual usage value above a determined average shared resource usage value associated with the plurality of ports.
