A first database is generated for a client device and a client identifier of the client device is stored in association with the first database. The first database is transmitted to the client device responsive to receiving a first message from the client device. After transmitting the first database to the client device and responsive to receiving a second message from the client device, data relevant to the client device is ascertained. A delta between database records stored in the first database and the data is generated. A database message is generated and transmitted to the client device, where the database message indicates the delta and includes a client directive pertaining to updating the first database according to the delta.

A server system may select one of two or more versions of a procedure based, at least in part, on a user profile. The server system may generate a message including a procedure name of the procedure, a version identifier identifying the selected version of the procedure, a set of computer-readable instructions corresponding to the selected version of the procedure, and a client directive pertaining to storing the procedure in a database. The images can be analyzed to find one or more matched objects, and it can be determined whether recognized target components from the matched objects match one or more known patterns. A display device can display initial data of at least a first presentation of a first one or more items in a list of items. An initial scrolling velocity can be calculated responsive to the user input, and a second presentation of a second one or more items in the list of items that corresponds to an anticipated stopping of the scrolling can be predicted in accordance with the initial scrolling velocity and a deceleration rate. Data to be displayed in the second presentation can be retrieved before the stopping of the scrolling.

When it is determined that one or more conditions is satisfied, data associated with the entity can be updated to indicate that the first entity follows the other entities. Methods and systems are disclosed for delivering personalized content from a first server such as a merchant Web server to a computer accessing a second server such as an affiliate Web server. A system according to the present invention includes a merchant Web server and an affiliate Web server, the affiliate Web server being coupled to the merchant Web server over a computer network. A database of user information is accessible to the merchant Web server, as is a rule base that includes a plurality of configurable rules. User identification may be collected from the computer accessing a Web site controlled by the affiliate Web server and the collected user identification may be sent to the merchant Web server, along with a request for content. User information corresponding to the collected user identification may then be retrieved from the database. The user information obtained from the database may be applied to the plurality of rules and selected content may be returned to the affiliate Web server in response to the request for content. The returned content is selected based upon the result of the application of the user information to the plurality of rules.

Methods and systems for rule-based distributed and personlized content delivery

A method for partitioning Web pages of a Web site into graphic elements and technical elements to enable efficient updating of the Web site. Graphic elements of a Web page are defined and a plurality of technical page element sets for respectively formatting the Web page in accordance with the technical page element sets are defined. The graphic elements of the Web page are converted into a stylesheet using a content-to-stylesheet generator. The Web page is then processed using the stylesheet in accordance with one of the technical page element sets to obtain a formatted Web page in accordance with the one technical page element set. The stylesheet can be compatible with a version of XSL (extensible stylesheet language). The formatted Web page is subsequently provided to a user via a server application. Efficient updating of the Web site is enabled by partitioning the graphic design elements, which define a look and feel for the Web page, from the technical page elements, which define the technical reliability of the software objects, scripts, macros, and the like. The partitioning allows the graphic design elements and the technical elements to be changed and updated more independently.
