In a zoom lens device of a two-lens group structure, positive and negative lens groups are sequentially arranged from a photographing field side. The zoom lens device has a controller for controlling a rear focusing operation for moving the negative lens group on a high magnification side. The controller also controls one of an entire drawing-out focusing operation for moving the positive and negative lens groups, and a front focusing operation for moving the positive lens group on a low magnification side. The high and low magnification sides are respectively set to telescopic and wide angle sides. A focal length of the zoom lens device is increased on the high magnification side and is decreased on the low magnification side. Thus, a zoom ratio is increased and a lens drawing-out amount is reduced on the telescopic side so that the zoom lens device can be made compact. A driving device of a varifocal lens having a two-lens group structure has a base frame and a rear group holding frame for respectively holding front and rear lens groups and moved in accordance with zooming and focusing control states of the varifocal lens.

A telescopic pattern for prescribing a focusing region at the telescopic time is proximately disposed forward from a focusing starting position at the telescopic time. A sliding brush 16 is disposed in a front group frame for holding the main lens and is slidably moved on the wide angle and telescopic patterns to detect the respective focusing regions of the main lens at focal lengths and the focusing starting positions. A contact type image sensor includes a plurality of opaque metallic films formed on top of a transparent insulating substrate. Each opaque metallic film is located between adjacent lower electrodes formed on a transparent insulating film so as to prevent light emitted from a light source from being irradiated on a document to be scanned. Further, each opaque metallic film is located between adjacent upper extension electrodes connected to transparent conductive films formed on photoelectric conversion layers, so as to prevent the light from being irradiated on the document. Only light which is emitted from the light source and then passes through the light window, is irradiated on the document.

Disclosed is a lens driving and shutter opening and closing device for a camera, which includes a pulse motor adapted to rotate an output member by an angle proportional to the number of pulses of a pulse train supplied thereto and increase an output torque thereof when a pulse rate of the pulse train is reduced, a member coupled to the output member of the pulse motor through a speed-reduction gear for driving a lens and opening and closing shutter blades selectively when the pulse motor rotates, and a control mechanism for supplying a first pulse train having a first pulse rate to the pulse motor for driving the lens and supplying a second pulse train having a second pulse rate to the pulse motor for opening and closing the shutter blades, the first pulse rate being smaller than the second pulse rate in order that the pulse motor produces an output torque required for driving the lens which is larger than that required for opening and closing the shutter blades and rotates at a speed required for opening and closing the shutter blades faster than that required for driving the lens.

A lens driving device for driving a lens for use in adjusting a focus according to a distance therefrom to an object by a pulse motor, comprising; a lens driving section for driving the lens by the pulse motor, a distance measuring section for measuring the distance to the object and generating a distance information for focusing, and a generator for generating a pulse signal for driving the pulse motor, setting a pulse width of the pulse signal to a broad width at starting the pulse motor, changing the pulse width to a narrow width after starting, temporarily interrupting the generation of the pulse signal just before the lens reaches a predetermined stop position determined on the basis of the distance information for focusing generated by the distance measuring section and changing the pulse width to a broad width till the lens reaches the predetermined stop position.
