Methods and systems are provided for providing a runway awareness system for an aircrew of an aircraft. The method comprises receiving a first data stream that provides operational characteristics of a primary aviation parameter on approach to the runway. A second data stream is also received that provides operational characteristics of an alternative aviation parameter on approach to the runway. The first data stream and the second data stream are then displayed in a comparative layout format on a flight display for the aircrew of the aircraft during the approach to the runway.

System and method for providing a runway awareness system for an aircrew of an aircraft

A method is provided for displaying information on a display device of an aircraft. The method comprises determining, by the processor, a first point along a flight path when a flight mode associated with a flight plan will be armed; determining, by the processor, a second point along the flight path when the flight mode associated with the flight plan will be engaged; determining, by the processor, a third point along the flight path when the flight mode associated with the flight plan will be disengaged; generating, by the processor, graphics data that represents the first point, the second point and the third point; incorporating, by the processor, the graphics data into a user interface that displays the flight path; and generating, by the processor, the user interface for display on the display device of the aircraft.

A system for automatically constructing a flight plan that aligns with a boundary line is provided. The system has a controller that is configured to: automatically select a set of geographical (geo) coordinate waypoints along a boundary line using waypoints from the geographical database responsive to flight crew input; refine the set of geo coordinate waypoints using a calculated turn initiation distance and a turn completion distance for every waypoint; further refine the refined set of geo coordinate waypoints based on the course change between waypoints; generate a set of courses and distances between waypoints through computing, for each set of two consecutive waypoints in the further refined set of geo coordinate waypoints, the course and distance between the two consecutive waypoints; and construct the flight plan based on the waypoints in the further refined set of geo coordinate waypoints and the set of courses and distances between waypoints.

Methods, systems, and apparatuses are provided for a Secondary Runway Aiming Point (SRAP) procedure of an approach by an ownship that includes identifying at least one aircraft making an approach that satisfy a set of preconditions to pair the aircraft to the ownship in the SRAP procedure; calculating a set of results based on lateral and vertical deviations of a paired SRAP aircraft to the ownship, and differential lateral and vertical rates of the paired SRAP aircraft to the ownship; deriving one or more points from the calculated set of results to determine whether in a flight path of the ownship there is an occurrence of an intrusion into a wake of the paired SRAP aircraft during the approach, and generating graphic data to present on the cockpit display the occurrence of the intrusion in the wake of the flight path of the ownship to the paired SRAP aircraft.

Methods, systems, and apparatuses for identifying and indicating the secondary runway aiming point (SRAP) approach procedures

Methods and systems for flight control of a supersonic ownship are provided. The systems utilize sources of weather data, a flight management system (FMS) of the supersonic ownship, and sources of neighbor traffic data. The systems generate a complete neighbor traffic flight trajectory, and then process the complete neighbor traffic flight trajectory with a flight plan of the supersonic ownship, aircraft specific parameters, and forecasted and real-time weather data to generate therefrom a safe sonic altitude for flying the supersonic ownship. The safe sonic altitude is transmitted to air traffic control (ATC) as a request for an assignment. Upon receiving the assignment from ATC, the systems notify the pilot of the assignment and continue monitoring airspace for real-time changes in the flight path trajectory of the neighbor traffic. The sonic altitude is updated based on a detected real-time change in the flight path trajectory of the neighbor traffic.

The touchscreen display can be implemented in a vehicle, such as an aircraft.

Systems and methods for updating a scale of a barometric altimeter on aircraft are provided. The method, for example, may include, but is not limited to, receiving, by an aircraft communication system, barometric altimeter scale data corresponding to an atmospheric pressure at an airport, determining, by the processor, if the altitude of the aircraft is below a transition level for the airport, and adjusting, by the processor, the scale of the barometric altimeter based upon the received barometric altimeter scale data when the altitude of the aircraft is below the transition level for the airport.

Methods and apparatus are provided for automated control of aerodrome lighting. An exemplary system includes a communication radio, an aerodrome lighting data source, and a processor. The communication radio is configured to selectively transmit radio frequency (RF) signals. The aerodrome lighting data source is configured to at least selectively supply aerodrome lighting data representative of light control characteristics of aerodrome lighting associated with individual aerodromes. The processor is in operable communication with the aerodrome lighting data source and the communication radio, and is configured to selectively retrieve, from the aerodrome lighting data source, aerodrome lighting data associated with an individual aerodrome, and selectively command the communication radio to transmit RF signals consistent with the light control characteristics associated with the individual aerodrome.
