A liquid electrolyte, for an electrochemical gas sensor for detecting NHor gas mixtures containing NH, contains at least one solvent, one conductive salt and/or one organic mediator. The conductive salt is an ionic liquid, an inorganic salt, an organic salt or a mixture thereof. The electrolyte preferably is comprised of (I) water, propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate or a mixture thereof as solvent; (ii) LiCl, KCl, tetrabutylammonium toluenesulphonate or 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate as conductive salt; and (iii) tert-butylhydroquinone or anthraquinone-2-sulphonate as organic mediator.

Liquid electrolyte for an electrochemical gas sensor

An electrode () for an electrochemical gas sensor (), wherein the electrode has a gas-permeable membrane (). A graphene layer () is applied as an electrode material to the gas-permeable membrane (). Such an electrode () is prepared, for example, by applying a dispersion of graphene or graphene oxide in a volatile liquid to the gas-permeable membrane and evaporating the volatile liquid.

An electrochemical gas sensor () has a housing (), a working electrode (), a counterelectrode () and a reference electrode (). The housing () has an electrolyte reservoir (), a gas inlet orifice () and at least one gas outlet orifice (). The electrolyte reservoir () is filled with a liquid electrolyte (). The gas sensor () has a counterelectrode carrier (). The counterelectrode () is suspended on the counterelectrode carrier () in such a way that the counterelectrode () is suspended in the electrolyte reservoir () and the electrolyte () flows around the counterelectrode () on all sides. Preferably, the electrolyte includes (I) a solvent, e.g. water, propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate or mixtures thereof; (ii) a conductive salt, especially an ionic liquid; and/or (iii) an organic mediator, for example substituted quinones, anthraquinones, etc.

Electrochemical gas sensor, liquid electrolyte and use of a liquid electrolyte in an electrochemical gas sensor

An electrochemical gas sensor () includes a housing () which has a number of electrodes (), i.e. at least one working electrode () and at least one counter electrode (), in addition to a liquid electrolyte (). At least one of the electrodes () and/or the housing () are at least partially formed of an absorption agent composition. A method of detecting acid gases employs the electrochemical gas sensor ().

An electrochemical gas sensor () with a housing (), with an electrolyte reservoir () and with a plurality of electrodes (). The electrodes () include at least one working electrode (), one counterelectrode () and one reference electrode (). The electrolyte reservoir () is filled with a liquid electrolyte (). All of the electrodes () are arranged at or on a common electrode carrier ().

An electrochemical sensor is provided especially for gases. The electrochemical sensor has a mediator compound, which is both dissolved in an electrolyte () in a saturated form and is present as an excess solid () in the electrolyte ().

A mediator-based electrochemical gas sensor reacts selectively with hydrogen sulfide. The gas sensor has an electrolyte solution (), which contains a mediator compound in the form of metallates of transition metals.

An electrochemical sensor, especially for gases, is provided having a mediator compound based on transition metal salts of polybasic acids and/or transition metal salts of polyhydroxycarboxylic acids. The electrochemical sensor also contains a DLC, BDD or a precious metal thin-layer measuring electrode (). The electrochemical sensor may be used for determining SOand HS.

An electrochemical gas sensor is provided with a carbon-based measuring electrode () that it can be used for a large number of electrochemical detection reactions and can be manufactured at a low cost. The measuring electrode () contains carbon nanotubes.

An electrochemical sensor with at least one measuring electrode (), at least one auxiliary electrode () and at least one reference electrode (), wherein a protective electrode (), which ensures at the reference electrode () the at least partial shielding of the reference electrode () against substances that would lead to a change in the reference potential when reaching the reference electrode (), is arranged in the vicinity of the reference electrode (). A highly stable reference potential can be obtained with the present invention.
