The chlorohydrocarbon content of silicone resins prepared from alkoxysilanes is reduced by reacting alkoxysilane and 0.01-1 pbw chlorinated hydrocarbons with water at at least 50&#xb0; C. and for at least 30 minutes, in the absence of a water immiscible solvent.
