A method for activating personal protection means using at least one signal derived from an acceleration sensor. A forward displacement is determined from the signal, and the forward displacement is compared to at least one threshold value surface, which is set as a function of a velocity decrease and a deceleration. The personal protection means is activated as a function of the comparison.

A method is described for generating at least one feature for an occupant protection system, which is determined from at least one basic feature and analyzed for generating a triggering signal for an occupant protection device, and a corresponding device. During normal operation, at least one short-term window integral is calculated from the at least one basic feature and used as a starting value for calculating a corresponding long-term integral when a starting condition for a crash operation obtains, the at least one long-term integral being made available to a following method as a feature for generating the triggering signal for the occupant protection system.

Method and device for generating at least one feature for an occupant protection system

An apparatus for triggering restraint devices includes crash sensors inside and outside of a control unit. The apparatus checks a crash signal of the crash sensors using a plausibility signal. To check the crash signal, the apparatus receives the plausibility signal from a vehicle sensor outside of the control unit, and then triggers the restraint devices as a function of the crash signal and the first plausibility signal.
