A display assembly for a vehicle includes a support chassis having a recess, and a display module at least partially received within the recess, the display module having a front side and a back side. A cover lens is attached to the front side of the display module with a bonding material and coupled to the support chassis in a floating mounting arrangement using a flexible adhesive.

Floating mounting arrangement for components in a vehicle display assembly

A lens assembly structures and methods are described with a glass surface facing user. The lens assembly may include a retention film on a rear surface of the glass layer with the front surface being free of a safety layer. The lens assembly may include a glass layer with a front surface to be engaged by a person and a rear surface and a retention film fixed to the rear surface and is transparent. A display generator may be fixed to the retention film. A spacing layer may be fixed on the retention film around the display generator. A mask may be fixed to a rear surface of the glass beneath the retention film. A support frame may engage the spacing layer and support the display generator with the glass layer being supported by the retention film and mechanically supported by both the display generator and the frame. The front surface may be free from a retention layer.

Lens system and method

An electronic device including a substrate having opposing top and bottom surfaces is provided. A ground layer is disposed in the substrate. An electrically conductive chassis has a mounting surface to receive the bottom surface of the substrate and is in electrical contact with the ground layer by a ground stitch via. An electromagnetic shield is defined by the ground layer, the ground stitch via and the chassis to enclose the bottom surface of the substrate and protect the bottom surface from electromagnetic interference. A non-conductive cover is assembled to the substrate in tension so that an interior surface of the cover applies a force to the top surface of the substrate thereby ensuring the chassis maintains electrical contact with the ground layer.

Electromagnetic shield for an electronic device

A rotary knob assembly and methods for forming and controlling friction effecting features of the knob assembly are disclosed. The knob assembly includes a mounting structure and a knob. The knob is rotatably coupled to a bezel of the mounting structure. The knob includes a stabilizer, a guide member, and a retainer having a patterned surface. At least a portion of the stabilizer is disposed between the bezel and the retainer to maintain an axial position and a radial position of the knob. A detent formed on the guide member cooperates with a patterned surface of the retainer to provide a haptic feedback to a user.

Rotary knob assembly

A push-button assembly has a button retainer having a first side wall connected to a second side wall, with an included angle between the first and second side wall being in the range of about 100 degrees to about 170 degrees. Additional side walls connect the second side wall back to the first side wall, forming a hollow portion within the button retainer. The button retainer can be mated within the channel of a corresponding bezel structure. The bezel structure can be tuned to fit the button retainer along a single axis of the bezel structure. A tune-to-fit process includes forming the bezel structure from a mold and measuring the fit of the button retainer within the bezel structure along an x-axis. The bezel mold is either re-cut or material is added to the bezel mold along the x-axis, without re-cutting or adding material along any other axis.
