Systems and processes are provided to prevent light ends such as methane, ethylene and ethane from building up in an olefin/paraffin separation system that uses a combination of a membrane and distillation column for this separation. In one embodiment a small stripper column is provided downstream from a selective hydrogenation reactor. In the other embodiment, a surge vessel with a receiver is added to the retentate stream of the membrane unit.

Process and system for removal of light ends and non-condensables to prevent buildup in an olefin/paraffin membrane separation process

We have discovered a process for hydrocracking a distillate stream and separating it into several product cuts including LPG, light naphtha, heavy naphtha and distillate without a stripper column. Additionally, no more than two heaters relying on external utilities are required for reboiling fractionator bottoms.

Process for recovering hydrocracked effluent

A crude distillation and refining process and apparatus enables modular supply of the crude distillation column. Crude oil may be heated and then separated into only two liquid products in the crude distillation column. The separation between the light and heavy products may be controlled by the overhead product flow rate. Heat is recovered from an overhead stream and a bottoms stream by pre-heating the incoming crude oil stream by heat exchange with overhead stream and the bottoms stream. In an embodiment, a diesel-range distillate fraction may be condensed from an overhead stream in a first heat exchanger and a naphtha-range fraction may be condensed from the gas stream uncondensed by the first heat exchanger in a second heat exchanger.

Modular crude refining process

Processes and apparatuses for producing a Caromatic isomer product are provided. The apparatus comprises an isomerization unit to provide an isomerized stream. An isomerate stripper column is in communication with the isomerization unit to provide an isomerate stripper overhead stream comprising Chydrocarbons in an isomerate overhead line and an isomerate stripper bottoms stream in an isomerate bottoms line. A dividing wall naphthene splitter column is in communication with the isomerate bottoms line to provide an overhead naphthene splitter stream comprising the Cnaphthenes and Caromatic hydrocarbons in a naphthene splitter overhead line and a naphthene splitter sidedraw stream comprising Caromatic isomers in a naphthene splitter sidedraw line. An extractive distillation column is in communication with the naphthene splitter overhead line to provide a recycle feedstream comprising the Cnaphthenes in a recycle line and an extract stream comprising the Caromatic hydrocarbons in an extract line.

Processes and apparatuses for production of aromatic products

A low pressure re-absorber is integrated with a sulfur-rich solvent flash drum or a sulfur-rich solvent stripping column in a solvent acid gas removal process that provides for sufficient sulfur concentration for the downstream sulfur recovery unit. In another aspect of the invention, carbon dioxide containing or carbon dioxide rich gas streams that are at a lower temperature relative to a lean solvent stream are used to cool those lean solvent streams and then optionally to cool other process streams, to save energy consumption.

Low pressure re-absorber and its integration with sulfur-rich solvent flash drum or sulfur-rich solvent stripper in an absorption unit

Methods and apparatuses for removing impurities from a hydrocarbon stream are provided herein. In an embodiment, a method for removing impurities from a hydrocarbon stream includes providing the hydrocarbon stream that includes carbon dioxide in an amount of greater than about 50 ppm by mole. Carbon dioxide is selectively adsorbed from the hydrocarbon stream to produce a treated hydrocarbon stream that has less than or equal to 50 ppm by mole of carbon dioxide. The adsorbed carbon dioxide is desorbed to produce a raffinate stream that includes the carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide is separated from the raffinate stream using a solvent separation technique to produce a treated raffinate stream.

Apparatuses and methods for removing impurities from a hydrocarbon stream

An aromatics complex producing one or more xylene isomers offers a large number of opportunities to conserve energy by heat exchange within the complex. One previously unrecognized opportunity is through providing two parallel distillation columns operating at different pressures to separate Caromatics from C+ aromatics. The parallel columns offer additional opportunities to conserve energy within the complex through heat exchange in associated xylene recovery facilities.

Energy conservation in heavy-hydrocarbon distillation

A process is disclosed for recovering product from catalytically converted product streams. An integrated debutanizer column provides an LPG stream, a light naphtha stream and a heavy naphtha stream. The integrated debutanizer column may comprise a dividing wall column. The light naphtha stream may be used as an absorbent for a primary absorber column which provides advantageous operation.

A process is disclosed for recovering product from catalytically converted product streams. Gaseous unstabilized naphtha from an overhead receiver from a main fractionation column is compressed in a compressor. Liquid unstabilized naphtha from the overhead receiver and liquid naphtha fraction from the compressor are sent to a naphtha splitter column upstream of a primary absorber. Consequently, less naphtha is circulated in the gas recovery system.

Process for recovering FCC product

An apparatus is disclosed for recovering product from catalytically converted product streams. Gaseous unstabilized naphtha from an overhead receiver from a main fractionation column is compressed in a compressor. Liquid unstabilized naphtha from the overhead receiver and liquid naphtha fraction from the compressor are sent to a naphtha splitter column upstream of a primary absorber. Consequently, less naphtha is circulated in the gas recovery system.
