Methods and apparatuses for wireless communications are disclosed. For example, one method includes detecting a procedure and determining the procedure is a qualifying procedure. The method further includes detecting one or more handover events indicative of handover procedures, where the handover procedures interfere with the execution of the qualifying procedure. The method also includes comparing a radio frequency condition of the communication between a user equipment and a source access point with a threshold value based on the radio frequency condition and delaying handover procedures for a predefined time based on the comparison, wherein the delaying of the handover procedures occurs when the detected procedure is the qualifying procedure and when the radio frequency condition satisfies a threshold that is based on the threshold value.

Methods and apparatus for reducing handover signaling during wireless communication procedures

Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication, including for intelligent mode selection for circuit switched fall back devices. A user equipment (UE) attached to a wireless network may determine that circuit switched fall back (CSFB) service is not available. The UE may thus elect to operate in a packet switched (PS) operating mode until CSFB service again becomes available. For example, the UE may receive a system information block (SIB) indicating that the CSFB connection is not available, the UE may attempt to access a CSFB a predetermined number of times, or the UE may miss a number of voice calls. The UE may, based on this determination, select a packet switched (PS) operating mode. The UE may continue to exchange PS data with the serving cell based on the PS operating mode. The UE may then periodically evaluate the signal quality for a 1x cell.

Intelligent mode selection for circuit switched fall back devices

Systems and methods for controlling access to a wireless network are provided. An access control device is configured to control access of a wireless device to the wireless network. The access control device includes a receiver configured to receive, from the wireless device, a first identifier. The first identifier has an identifier type. The access control device further includes a processor configured to select a database, from a first database and a second database, based on the identifier type. The processor is further configured to determine whether the first identifier is in the selected database. The processor is further configured to restrict access of the wireless device to the wireless network based on whether the first identifier is in the selected database.
