A variable output induction motor drive system for use with a polyphase variable output alternating current motor including a rotor and stator to drive an operating load such as an automotive vehicle, the variable output induction motor drive system comprises a sine wave current generator operatively coupled to a direct current power source to receive direct current therefrom and to generate a variable sine wave current and operatively coupled to the polyphase variable output alternating current motor to selectively feed the variable sine wave current thereto and a sine wave current control coupled between the sine wave power current generator and the polyphase variable output alternating current motor to monitor the operating parameters of the polyphase variable output alternating current motor and to control the amplitude and frequency of the variable sine wave current fed from the sine wave current generator to the polyphase variable output alternating current motor to control the output torque and speed thereof.

Variable output induction motor drive system

An arc discharge device such as a fluorescent lamp comprising a lamp envelope having an inner phosphor coating. An arc spreading assembly is disposed in or in close proximity to the lamp envelope. The lamp envelope is of an oval or elliptical cross-section and the major axis is a multiple of the minor axis of the lamp's cross-sectional shape. The lamp envelope is strengthened mechanically and protected against atmospheric pressure by being enclosed in an evacuated outer cylindrical protective envelope.

Fluorescent lamp with rotating magnetic field arc spreading device

A compact fluorescent lamp with a screw-in plug to fit conventional screw sockets which operates at 20-30 watts and provides the lumen output of a 75-100 watt lamp. The lamp is essentially a hollow cylinder with a glass envelope for the two outer walls. The space between the two outer walls is partitioned to constrain the arc discharge to follow a designated path around the inner surface of the lamp. Efficiency is promoted by novel ballast design. The screw-in fluorescent lamp contains a coil in the center of the lamp which creates a diverging magnetic field which causes the arc discharge to spread and may also serve the dual purpose of limiting arc current. Arc spreading coils of several designs are disclosed to provide oriented diverging magnetic fields, rotating diverging magnetic fields and magnetic fields shaped to the lamp envelope with which they are employed.

Compact fluorescent lamp and method and means for magnetic arc spreading

An arc discharge device such as a fluorescent lamp comprising an outer envelope having an inner phosphor coating. An arc spreading assembly is disposed in said envelope. There is provided a recombination structure in the form of fine glass or quartz fibers disposed in the envelope.

Fluorescent lamp with arc spreading with recombination structures

A table having a table top having a top surface. Grilles are provided in the table top and are in flow communication with an electrostatic precipitator for purifying the air. The electrostatic precipitator collects the smoke particles on a filter, the clean, filtered air being discharged at low velocity back into the room. This table equipped with air cleaner and filter prevents smoke generated by smokers and in ashtrays from diffusing throughout the room by capturing the smoke close to the source of the impurities.
